  • Italian cyclist Fausto Coppi was one of the most exciting and charismatic cyclists of all time, unassuming in physical build but not in personality. His dominance in racing was trumped only by his fiercely competitive nature.
In 1949, his seventh year as a professional, Coppi took an astounding nine firsts, including both the Giro d'Italia and the Tour de France, and earned the moniker "Campionissimo." Coppi's private life was also filled with drama. Constantly hounded by tabloids, he became one of the most revered and reviled racers in Italy during the 1950s. His tragic death from an undetected attack of malaria in 1960 brought a premature close to his storied career.
Above all, Fausto Coppi was one of the all-time greats of pro cycling, and the scope of his achievements is made vividly clear through historic footage and revealing interviews.

I went to see the December edition, it involved a few drinks and some food upstairs in the pub. Very pleasant way to spend a Monday evening...

  • Do we have to RSVP?

  • I'm not familiar with period bikes, but the last picture is intriguing.
Seems to use 28 ish tubulars?
Lots of rub inside the drive side stay?
What's with the eyelet at the bottom of the fork, and the mini mudguard?
    Bumpy and potentially muddy race?
Not that day, unless he has showered/ changed /cleaned his bike.

  • The roads were atrocious when he was racing.

Rub could be from changing wheels or changing during races and not having 'em lined up lovely + mud etc = grinding wheel.

Light mount? For riding home in the dark after a race.
