Peugeot Tourmalet 80's (CAD) - Bottom Bracket issue

  • Hi all,

My BB recently started to wear out and has finally given in, unfortunately, which is causing the crank set to wibble-wobble.

Went to my LBS a while back in hope that they could pinpoint the issue and replace the BB, however they were unable to get it apart due to corrosion.

So my question is, if by chance it does completely give in and I manage to get it out by force, what is the likely-hood the frame is unharmed and still salvageable? Has anyone got any thoughts on getting it apart?

It's quite a nice frame and really love it. But I'm afraid it may be FUBAR.

Just so you can see the severity of it, here's a bloody video.

  • 1) clean all that shit off with paraffin and a 1" paintbrush
    2) soak the crank bolts and both sides of the BB with plusgas
or some other decent penetrating oil.
3)repeat 2 for as long as you can.
    4) Have another go at dismantling.
The frame ain't fubar yet and you might not even need to take the drive side cup out, at all
