Aren't you better off selling the BLB one and buying the stock pomp one? It's only £30 and even on a bad day you should be able to sell the BLB for a tenner. So it'll be cheaper overall, function better and look better.

I probably wont be brazing brake bosses onto it so when i do upgrade it will be more considerable than from the blb to the pomp I hope. (maybe something carbon)
I had looked at that option but i wanted something straight and I like the fgfs style forks anyways so it was more of an aesthetic thing really, it wouldn't make it cheaper over all anyways as i would have then lost out on £16 for no reason to then pay another £20 on top for a fork that i don't like the look of.

wheels & headset?
so i have a couple of questions about hubs, spokes and headsets!
Hubs, as stated i would like to eventually have this be freewheel with 2 brakes, so...
i'm guessing fixed hubs don't have the same size threads as freewheel hubs?
so will i have to go flip flop?spokes, how many and which ones? im thinking 32 on both? im a pretty lightweight rider coming in at like 70kg but do like to hop off of curbs and stuff cus its fun.
headsets, any recommendations? obviously i'm not going to be splashing out on a Chris King any time soon but i would like to understand the advantages of a slightly pricier headset, is it all basically in longevity? or is there more to it?

You can thread on a freewheel on the fixed side of any standard track hub. Just less threads for it to sit on but i have never had any issues.
32 spokes are well enough.
PX has got some FSA Orbit headsets that are great for the money. And look kinda Chris Kingsy.

and thanks for the advice & links too! the headsets do look pretty nice!
and yeah i thought 32 would be well enoughcan anyone recommend or is anyone a wheelbuilder?
i'd just like to get an idea of how much people would charge to build my wheels for me when i need them building. -

^^ Fixed/fixed makes more sense IMO. You can run a freewheel on a fixed thread.
There's always a chance you'll strip the threads so having a spare set makes sense. If you want a clean look a simple option is to go for black hubs and then neatly cover them with electrical tape. Then they won't notice and you still have the spare threads if you need them.
^ wheelbuilders usually charge £20-50. If you're going for 32h and a no dish then I'd say have a go yourself. It's not that hard and you don't need many tools for a track wheelset. ACI double butted spokes from cyclebasket are good and probably the cheapest you'll find.

oh also would having the freewheel on a track hub effect chainline?
-

thanks hugo, thats actually not a bad idea/point!
i suppose it makes replacing a hub half as likely/often if im an idiot and cant remove/install my freehweels & cogs correctly (of which neither i have done before so also likely!) -

i need a 29.8mm seat clamp, does anyone have one only ones on chain reaction are £7.99 or £11.99 and i dont fancy paying that for a seat post clamp!
or could i get away with 30.0mm as its .2 of a mm?

rear hub ordered last night ive heard mixed reviews about these "fixed G" halo hubs but i cant personally see enough reason behind peoples arguments against them and the only reviews ive seen from people who have actually had them have been good!
At £21 plus a fiver delivery im willing to risk it i think! i will be buying my matching front hub and then deciding on my spokes and builder some time in early january (student loan/tax rebate time)
Also my rims should arrive tomorrow according to winstanleys, does anyone know how easy the decals can be removed? im presuming it wont be that hard and that they wont be underneath any laquer?

Good choice. At least you don't need to worry about a stripped thread.
Personally, I chose this hub because of a brakeless bike - I'd hate the cog to slip in a tight spot. -

bars and seat post are also on their way!
had to have the guys at chain reaction clarify that it was a black/black post and not the Black/blue that the image was linked to on the site.
i know they don't exactly need the advertisement but they have great customer service IMO

probably going to be going with this crank once my dolan has been collected/payed for buy its new owner
thinking i might go with as small as possible gearing to get a similar gear ratio to what im used to (48t -17t) apparently according to some online gear ration calculators.
the closest i can get i believe is 42t - 15t
anyone have any recommendations for a 130 bcd 42t chainring in black?

Almost 3 years. Sushi Geezer is riding them now. Solid wheels (both hubs and Aerowarriors).

Decent post day! my Mavic A319 rims turned up (although rather questionably packaged by winstanleys!) and the decals look easy to remove! :)
Also 2 parts of my belated christmas presents from my brother, decided i need to expand the range of tools i own, couldn't be happier with this chainbreaker so far it feels really sturdy!

I'm back in Staffordshire for a few days so paid a visit to Matt at Vekta Velosport, fairly new shop, specialising in TT and road stuff but luckily had a headset lying around that wasn't integrated so I now have a cane creek "forty" headset fitted :)

Also paid a visit to Goldtec, while lusting after their hubs and deciding they were out of my budget I found these, Goldtech track rings, pretty lightweight, ticks all the boxes (130bcd, 5 bolt, all black, 42t) AND it's reversible so a bit of extra life in it, think this is my favourite piece of the build so far and it's a nice little touch to have something that's manufactured in my hometown.

MORE POST :D
Yesterday's delivery a bargainous halo fixed G hub for £26 delivered from kinoko
And today's pick up from then depot crank bros cobalt seatpost £15.99, and they threw in a £10 retention voucher which is awsome of them! (Only catch is that I have to spend £75 on an order to redeem it in the next 2 weeks but I still have a few pieces to buy and my student loan came in yesterday so it's spending time!
Getting super excited! Gonna see how much of the post I need as it's a 350mm and I think I could get away with cutting it down a bit #pointlessweightweenie
Please feel free to tell me that is a stupid unsafe and idiotic idea, I'm just presuming it isn't if I measure and re-mark the minimum insertion point the same distance up from the new cut?)

So, I recently bought a brand new pomp frame.
only £99 what a bloody bargain.
i've started put together a little list too (i think hitting 20 has made me do all this weird sensible shit)
need a little guidance/persuasion on things i haven't decided on yet so input is welcomed!
basically aiming for this to be a budget bike that will be fixed for a while and then i'll stick 2 brakes on it and go ss with it and maybe swap back and fourth depending on my mood!
heres the list (i'll fill it in as i go along)
