Are yu sure that's only in the paint....?! It looks a bit drastic in the pic...

That looks like a crack. That's where the carbon lug joins the chainstay.

Yes, that's where the joint is. It's been there for years, at least, since I bought it. I think it's from the flex on turbo. And there are hairline cracks on the paint on more places where the lugs are. And remember, the bike is 13 years old. It feels pretty stiff and solid when riding. You are welcome to come, have a look and test ride it.

I've owned a couple of Trek TT frames, and Trek are hopeless with their paint. I'd agree and say its only a paint defect. A friend bought a new Madone 2 years ago, and that went back under warranty for the same paint cracking defects. Still haven't got there act together.....

Hi there,
for sale a piece of cycling history (that some might want to forget about ;)) This is 2000 model with 1 inch ahead fork/stearer. Bike on which Lance Armstrong won Tour De France as part of the US Postal team. Size 56cm (top tube center to center). It has some chipped paint and cable rubbing marks, but generally in good condition. You might question one hairline crack on the chain stay, that is on the paint only!
The bike comes with:
Shimano 105 sti shifters (10 speed)
Shimano ultegra front mech
Shimano 105 rear mech
Shimano cassette (new), kmc chain (new)
Sram GXP carbon chainset (53/39), rings in good condition
Sram bottom bracket (new)
Shimano ultegra brakes
Miche - Condor Strada wheelset (new)
ITM Pro 260 handlebars, 3T short stem, Ritchey seatpost, Fizik Pave CX sadle, Cane Creek 1" headset
Vittoria Open corsa 23c clinchers tyres, rear tyre has a scuff of missing rubber (as on picture), that is why I am adding 3 continental 4season tyres (blue, used).
New cables and housing
No pedals!
Great racing bike with lots of new parts, great for bike collectors!
