Anyone familiar with Turku, Finland on here?

Don't suppose you know if there's anyone who hires out bikes that aren't unisex hybrids? Be nice to borrow something more fun such as road bike, sweet fixeh etc.

I'd be surprised if there was a shop hiring roadbikes or fixies in Turku or anywhere else in Finland for that matter. For some unfathomable reason my countrymen seem to prefer pig iron hybrids with hub gears. What you could do is post on http://www.yksivaihde.net/site/foorumi/ (equivalent of LFGSS in Finland) or http://www.fillarifoorumi.fi/forum/register.php (roadie forum). Let me know if you need help with the Finnish with the latter registration. You'll be fine posting in English. Nothing on Spinlister I'm afraid.

I had a cycle around the islands of Turku and it was outstanding. Although, as already said, there wasn't much in the way of choice regarding bike hire. Went to two hire shops and all they had were monster hydrids.

I don't know much about Turku, but there was Momento bikes in Helsinki specializing in hiring road bikes. I say was, because the site is down and the company might have gone belly up. As Cycloslalomeur suggested your best bet could be to hit the mentioned forums and ask around if one of the numerous bike hoarders would be willing to lend one of their bikes for a few days. Apparently the infamous TQHCFR scene is pretty vibrant.

Turku could probably score a bit of a public relations coup by renaming itself Tourku or Tour Co. This would attract hordes of cyclists.

Get a hybrid and a few cans of beer, roll around slowly and shout obscenities. You're on holiday after all.

Went there a long time ago. It's a very beautiful place. Stayed in this wooden shack in the middle of a forest with lakes and saunas and loads of naked, drunk Fins running around. It was a right laugh
