To ride or not to ride

  • I managed to crash my steel track frame a couple of months ago, I was just wondering whether it would be safe to ride as a beater?

The frame has a dent in the downtube and the top tube is slightly bent at the point it joins to the head tube?

I'll get some pics when I get the chance..

  • If you have to ask, the answer is generally no. Take it to a frame builder (Bike Fix on Lambs Conduit St is central) and ask them - or email some pics.

  • The Aende? That is a sad, sad sight. Sorry for your loss.

    And no, that's not safe.

  • Would not ride. Shame though. It's a lovely bike and could be worth the repair. BikeFix were the cheapest when I was looking into replacing a front triangle (TT and DT).

  • nice one. anyone know of a frame builder near nottingham?

  • Of that list, I would say Vernon Barker is your best best. I have been his repair work and it looks very good, and he doesn't charge the earth. Mercian is also near to you and although they will do an excellent job, you'll pay for it.
