Wanted: Track / LoPro frame for 5"5 person

Posted on
  • The bike build bug is itching again. Next: A fixed wheel for street use.

After building a 1978 Ciocc from frame bought on LFGSS (see my profile for pic) I am looking for a more modern frame for the next build.

Size: The Ciocc is 49.5x51, gives me about an inch standover. I'd say 51/52 is perfect, 53 TT also OK, 52 square (or equivalent) may be too high though depends on geo of course. I am 5"5' with longish arms/leg.

Material: Steel. No gas pipe as then it's no lighter than Hob...

Condition: Scratches etc. fine, no big dents or cracks please.

Geometry: Can be tight as long as it doesn't need special expensive tires. Roads here eat tires unfortunately. Some toe overlap OK. A lo-pro or TT frame is also perfectly fine.

Build thread on here for everybody to have An Opinion :)

Budget: Shall we say £200 and willing to stretch for the right frame. Beans on toast, here we come!

  • Gentle bump...was offered a Sirius Lo-Pro but vertical drop outs make it unsuitable for fixed, as I don't want the hassle of "magic gears".

    :)

You can get/use an asymetric rear wheel and run fixed that way. I used an ENO eccentric hub on this which I thought I sold through here. I bought the fixed asymetric wheel here.

  • Thanks :) I looked at the Eno hub, but it's £124. I rather spend that cash on a frame, if I have to.

E-bay one is too small for me, as Ciocc with 51 CM top tube shouldn't be any shorter but tx for headsup!

I have an beautiful old classic Harry Quinn track frame, 52cm, with Zeus 2000 forks - possibly older than you are looking for but bloody beautiful...
It's too small for me and I paid 190 for it but I'll take any sensible offer in case you were interested.
    No worries if not though!

  • The modern was more so I can put modern parts I have on it and not feel like I degrade the frame, as vintage campag breaks the bank...

Do you have any pics handy? :)

  • Gentle bump as no frame yet...tx to everybody that offered via PM!

Who can help out a shortarse? :)

  • I've had some replies but alas no frame yet...

Don't make me have to go on evilbay ;)

    Have a good weekend :)

  • Hey dude, I still have this 3rensho track frame for sale:

    http://www.lfgss.com/thread117712.html

  • Too big :(

I won't clear it inside leg 31 inches with cycle shoes on...

  • Resurrecting this as no joy yet, no posting, not quite right etc.

And I'd probably need a 49/50/51 max, 52 will be too high from what I've seen. But as long as the top tube is 51-52 should be fine.

    Tx, a self-described "short-arse".

  • Obv. when I wake this post it's when ebay finally delivers...

Now got a small Gazelle 1999 frame on the way...
