  • BNIB, selling to fund purchase of R785 levers.

I bought these from Merlin and they have sat in their packaging ever since.

Picture to come- but it will be a stock photo so feel free to add one yourself.

    £150

  • Absolute bargain! I'm selling some bog standard ultegra 6700 levers on eBay for the same price!!

  • Well Rose Bikes estimate that they'll have stock of the R785's in two weeks, so I've got that long to find a buyer for these.

I think that the price will be hard to beat, given that they are brand spanking new.

  • 10 or 11 speed? Or does it not matter?

  • The number of speeds is set by the rear mech- so these (which are 6770) will work perfectly with 6870 mechs.

That was how I was going to do it- with HY/RD brakes, but then I saw that the R785's will be released before I get the frame back now, so- tempted to do that.

  • How much for Hy/Rd? ;)

  • I am close enough to the purchase date to return those- so if you wanted them it would be £220

  • These are them, as said upthread these will work fine with 11 speed mechs, you just need to ensure that all parts of the transmission is on the same (latest) software release.

  • Would these go on Bikeradar do people think?

Maybe a (titular) fixed gear forum is not the best market for them.

  • Maybe. They'd go quicker, and for more, on eBay though.

  • Ok, I shall list them on Sunday for seven days, finishing at around 6pm if they don't go in the interim.

  • I'm astonished they've not gone already.

And am tempted myself, but not sure I want to take on the opportunity cost of switching to Shimano on my road bike.

  • Yeah tempted too. What's the compatibility with these? Do they work with the original Di2 kit? Or is there a protocol issue (Cambus vs. PCM or something?)

  • The original Dura Ace Di2 (7970) is compatible only with itself, all the other Di2 variants (which all use the e-tube wires to connect) can interchange parts.

So, for example 6770 levers (these) will work with 6870 mechs- or 9070 mechs, or a 9070 rear with a 6870 front etc etc.

  • I'm seriously tempted to build a new road frame up with these.

However - I don't want a battery sticking out and I don't have internal cable routing as an option. I'd assume there was a 27.2 seatpost battery available but what do you do to avoid a wiring spaghetti junction?

You can always get this http://www.rosebikes.co.uk/bike/rose-xeon-rs-frame-set/aid:614951

  • Neither of those options are particularly attractive.

I have an ali crit bike already.

  • What I did with my System Six was to use the Shimano U-channel frame stickers to run the cable underneath the downtube, and along the underside of the chainstay.

The in-seat post battery cable went in a hole in the BB shell, up the seat-tube and you can guess the rest.
