Nice repair and really nice ride!

Thanks. Next plan is to get a black seatpost and cables should arrive monday so I can get to ride it. Also I wish to get a full carbon fork eventually.

Bloody excellent!

How did you mitre the ends of the top and down tube?

Wow really good job.

How did you mitre the ends of the top and down tube?
I filed it until I was satisfied with the angles. Using the existing mitres as guides for the filing. It took a couple of day getting it right. Checking the toptube, seattube and new heatube constantly with Clinometer app on my iPhone.
I am currently working on a jig, but this can be done with files, a hacksaw, a vise, frameblocks and a brazing kit. -

As I got screwed on here buying a pair of full carbon forks that never showed up, I had to be creative to get carbon forks on the frame. I had some old 1 1/8" carbon forks with a short steel steerer. So I decided to make the steerer longer. It's a set of heavy forks but rides nicely, so it will do until I get some more money for this project.

I did of course braze the pieces together I just didn't take a photo of it.
also I am working on making my own seatpost. As there are very few seatpost ø 26.8 of decent quality to be found used and cheap, I decided to make an effort making my own.
It's alu and stainless still right now and based on an old 27.2 seatpost. But as this is just the prototype size didn't matter.
I feel pretty cofident in my design (Tune's design really) so I might go for cutting up my only 26.8 seapost and paint it black. The stainless parts will be swapped for lighter aluminum rods and I might go down to M5 stainless bolts instead of M6. WW you now ;-) -

Has anybody got experience with using 2010 SRAM levers with cotton bartape?
I am think of going Newbaums eggplant

Incredible work here, love the ingenuity. Seen someone on here that used cotton batape with SRAM on cinelli criteriums, looked lovely. Do it.

Awesome work

Thanks y'all.
I ordered the eggplant cotton bar tape. Hopefully it will look nice with the levers.
I am only a couple of hours away from finishing the cable routing and taking the bike for a spin. Can't wait. -

Next step is to get it painted/powdercoated/anodized black.

If you want to make your own here's my drawings. No angles are supplied as they are according to the rails on the saddle. For the Fizik Arione it's 6 degrees.

Very cool! Brilliant idea and great execution. How much does the angle constrain adjustability of the saddle angle?
-
• #20
Thx. It's not major adjustable. It is custom for this frame/seat. But it's easy to make it fully adjustable later on.
-
• #21
It seems to be the same system as 3t doric and others that are quite adjustable. how come yours is not?
I mean; the cradle can rotate on the post so what else is neded? more leeway in the bolt holes in the lower bar? -
• #22
Exactly. The 6mm holes in the bottom bar are round. On similar designs they are sometimes oval to allow the bolts to move

So this happened...
Found an old Bontrager seat post and used the top piece..
Much stronger now. Seatpost is drying. Full pics later..

Make do and mend. Excellent.

I got an old Sancineto Columbus Gara frame with a cracked headtube from friend. I decided that this would make a great frame for testing swapping a 1" headtube for a 1 1/8" headtube. Something I have thought about doing for a long time.
Even though Gara is not highly regarded, and uses the annoying 26.8 seatposts, it does have qualities for long road rides and I like the details of this specific frame, so I didn't seem totally retarded to spend some time and money on this.
The frame was chrome under the paint so I ended up stripping the paint and keeping the brushed chrome look and just clear coat all the bare steel parts of the frame. I used Zapon. Is real smelly but seam to be keeping the rust away on frame mods I have done previously so I hope it will work one this headtube as well. If it doesn't and I like riding the frame I might get it resprayed anyway.
