  • Just moved to Ealing, so anywhere way out west..

  • Woolsey of Acton in Acton Lane. Sorry that it is not Ealing but it is in LB of Ealing!!!!!

  • bikelab in richmond

  • The Bike Whisperer in ...

No, hang on, hippy forced him out of London so nobody would become as fat as him.

  • Maybe wrong thread, but today I went to Stratton cycles at lunch time.
Only "real" LBS (as I love them) still aroundthis side of town since the sad disparition of Holdsworth cycles.

I also bumped into Stephen (I think that's the right spelling of his name) who used to take care Fiddy's bikes. We had a chat about Paul. He said they still have some handle bars that Paul ordered and never had a chance to come pick-up, sadly... I said "I bet they were carbon", and everybody smiled in the shop... No need to answer that question obviously!

  • Action bikes have a few branches out west

  • Hey can anyone recommend a decent LBS near Putney Bridge?

Looking for somewhere that doesn't have ridiculous service waiting lists, but that has good engineers. I used to regularly use London Bicycle Workshop who are brilliant, but my new commute doesn't take me anywhere near there. Cheers!

  • Putney Cycles perhaps? surprised you didn't noticed.

  • There are a couple around here, just looking for word of mouth recommendation. Will pop into Putney Cycles... Cheers!

  • Any LBS in South East London that can be trusted to do a decent job of re-indexing some gears? Should be a 5 minute job but I need someone who knows exactly what they're doing (I.e. not the Dr Bike people who messed them up or the LBS who subsequently replaced my cassette and chain leaving the indexing still a bit crap)

  • Balfe's Bike?

  • Cheers, will give them a try.

  • SE LBS....

    Harry Perry in Woolwich.

  • Quick note to say that I had some work done at Putney Cycles. It was just to replace some mechanical disc brake pads and to take a look at a hub gear. They were pretty good. Really fast turnaround, and they kept me updated throughout the process. Friendly service all round. Would recommend.

  • Bikeplus in purley if you don't mind going out that way. Some old bike shop in wimbledon village. Both really honest and friends in a fix have used them and not been ripped off.

Balfe's Bikes is like 2 turns along from me, not yet found an item that wasn't "special order" the door also isn't wide enough to get a bike in/out easily and being like a year since they opened it isn't an issue they have fixed as I rarely see bikes going in/out.

    Smith Bros.

Great little gems, parent brought me a second hand bike from them when I was a kid.

Yes that's the one. Awesome little shop.

  • Live very close to the smith brothers, really nice guys always happy to lend tools if I don't have the right ones.
    Just great

Josef's Cycles on Friary Rd - between Peckham and Old Kent Rd. They are awesome and their pricing is astonsihingly competitive.

  • Anything good near Limehouse without going into the city?

  • Need to cut and re-thread a fork. Any quality workshops in Central or East London? I´m new in the city so I have no idea where to go.

  • Imperial Cycles in Isleworth are good. Their mechanic-ing and ethics are sound.

  • Neils Wheels in East Molesey have become my go to LBS. Staffed by keen off-roaders, fast turn around on the repair jobs I don't have time for and bullshit free advice.

They now have a branch in Kingston too. They tend to focus on fixed wheel, practical commuter and off road bikes.

  • Had excellent service from Le Bicycle in West Wickham in the last couple of weeks.

Firstly fixed a bottom bracket (PF 86) which another shop had failed with by fitting the wrong part. The mechanic is James who used to run Fortitude Cycles in south London and I think he was at Cadence before that. He test rode my bike before and after doing the work to make sure the problem was sorted.

Re-indexed my rear mech for a very reasonable price today and turned round both jobs super quick.

Some nice bikes in stock to perv at too.
