All great ideas.
Woody, I tried going into the store looking for those ones you showed me, as well as their website but couldn't find.
Nike has these http://store.nike.com/gb/en_gb/pd/ankle-shields/pid-406424/pgid-750457 but the store was sold out, and not sure if the protection is hard plastic or just sponge. Would prefer plastic.
TS, maybe when my brand new Mavis's wear out....

this...
worked well for me, I've been using them since mid August, come off a few times, ankles are fine :)
There's a how-to here: http://www.lfgss.com/thread10440.html
They're not as stiff as specifically designed hi-top cycling shoes, but they cost about £20 all in.

Awesome. Yeah, if these Nikes don't do the trick then I will have to try this out.

Found these at Sports Direct after looking again and ignoring the directions of the sales associate. £4 instore. They look like they'll do the trick. Elastics seem strong enough to prevent them riding up and the padding area is quite dense but still malleable.

I've used those for ages and they're good, although I've not been able to find them for a month or so.

Got mine on Oxford Street between Ox. Circus and Tottenham court road. Plenty in stock.

Must be Greek-orthodox humour :P
Should also worn that these ankle protectors are embroidered with the nike logo, and some people may take offence to that.
