I would stick on the euston road to the old street roundabout and then head down but I like playing with moving traffic.

So my question is.. how long do you think that would take for an average person and what route would you recommend?
As above, 25 mins.
I usually go via Regents Park North then Camden / Sommers Town to avoid the worst of the Euston Road. I'll take the Euston Road if I'm early enough to avoid the worst of the traffic. But to make it worth it you have to ride the underpass.
Then head up via Angel to Old Street. Or you can turn right off the Euston Road towards Farringdon and follow the cyclepaths to Old Street via LMNH. You can avoid the Old Street Roundabout if you follow the cycle route.

I do Euston Road, turn right at Kings X down to Farringdon, left along Old St, right at Old St RAB. (Alternative is to carry straight on at Kings X, over the hill and turn down City Road).
This is a busy, main route but the traffic is heading in the same direction so I find it suits me. Slower, skittish riders might want a quieter route.
I'm going to try the southern Embankment option for heading into the City too and see how it compares.

There's also a cycle route parallel to Euston road but a bit to the south, which cuts through the universities, takes you past Mount Pleasant and down into Farringdon near Old St. It's not the quickest route but it's considerably quieter than Euston road, and when I used to commute that way I often preferred it when the weather was particularly miserable.

Super duper helpful! Will have to consider my whole journey!
I can get into work before 10:00 but normally there around 09:00. I get on the train from Maidenhead 08:00 normally straight to Paddington but I don't think I am allowed to take my bike on the train at peak times.

No one shortcuts through fitzrovia? Stupidly fast route with very little traffic. Lisson grove, Crawford to Waymouth Street then from there cut right across the whole Goodge street Russell square business. The choice is yours if you want to use Clerkenwell or Barbican side streets.
Shit...I miss aimlesly riding around.

Distance wise, yes that's probably a shortcut.
But I suspect there's more lights & nodders to slow you down once you are beyond Waymouth street.

Euston road route is much better than the embankment which is more congested and harder to filter through the traffic, with the added confusion of the silly blue paint.

I figured there was a reason I never bothered. The only times I have ridden it during the day have been unpleasant but I thought I'd give it another chance.
Considering riding to work from Paddington station. Place of work is Moorgate (practically next to the station) EC2Y 9AL.
So my question is.. how long do you think that would take for an average person and what route would you recommend?
