Hi mate. We used to build with Novatec which are good sealed bearing Hun. Sold over a 1000 sets with no returns. Miche are better and will run smoother. Also the tension you can build with is marginally better therefore you get a slightly better wheel set. Do a search under my name for stacks of questions and answers. Also you can use the lfgssprice code when you order for a forum price. Hope that helps you. Jim.

Thanks for the info Varno. I've taken a look at the custom wheel page. Is there a lighter build for this kind of price or is my best bet the Miche hubs with Mach1 rims and radial front pattern?

Spot on mate. You will have a great wheel set with that set up.

Hey Varno,
I ordered the black/black/Miche/Omega1 configuration and the set arrived - the hubs are super smooth, way better than the unbranded type. Couple of things let it down for me.
I tried emailing v sprint but didn't get any replies to my messages which was odd (v-sprint@live.co.uk)
I asked on the PayPal order for rim tape to be put on the wheels, but that didn't happen and I didn't get a message back about it. The stuff I had to go out and buy at £3.99 (Raleigh stretch over stuff) did not work because it moved slightly and I got a puncture. Just tried this on the front wheel, the rear is still untouched.
Also the website states - double sided - I thought this would be fixed/fixed, but the wheel is actually fixed/free.
Any ideas what I can do about the rim tape situation?

Hi mate. Didn't the rim tape question. We never supply with tape but we have some so email me and I'll send you a set.
Yes all the hubs are fixed and free.I'm away until Thursday so send me your address and I'll get the tapes out to foc.
I am in need of a new track wheelset with braking surface for use on the road with brakes. I want to spend between £100-150 and I already own a set of £60 Mach 1 Omegas on unbranded hubs, they are heavy and the bearings feel horrible even though I haven’t used them for more than 200 miles.
I’ve seen a couple of options in this price range that look heavy compared to road wheels but about on par for track wheels.
V-Sprint Mach 1 on Miche hubs £144
http://www.v-sprintwheels.com/pages/track-wheels-custom.html
Planet X AL30 on On One rims £119
http://www.planet-x-bikes.co.uk/i/q/WPPXAL30DTR/planet_x_al30_d_track_wheelset
Which are likely to be the better/smoother/faster wheelset? Are there any others in this price-range?
Are the Miche hubs better compared to the unbranded ones you get with £60 Mach 1s on eBay/etc?
(I’ve been through the wheels thread many times, but it doesn’t help with these questions)
Thanks,
Alex
