I'm pretty sure as long as the capacity is correct for your chainset and cassette then there should be no problems. 105 and ultegra have worked fine for me when combined even dura ace shifters with 105 rear mech was sweet! J

Cheers. I've since found a few bits in other forums suggesting the pull ratio is the same between 6600 and 6700 so presumably should run fine.
Just given my commuter a good clean and while getting all the crap out of the jockey wheels on the rear mech, it struck me that it really is knackered.
The mech is bent and the jockey wheels are gritty and look like they've done every single one of the 8,000 miles I reckon they've been subjected to.
What I want to know is can I replace a 6600 mech with any old Shimano 10 speed mech or will the action and the way it is controlled by the shifters (also 6600) affect it?
I can get a 5700 for about £30. Not the end of the world if I have to use 6600 because they are still available.
