Photo added. I'm not sure about this one.
Worth saving? -

rack it, mudguard it.. could be a nice tourer :)

Is that seatpost going to come out?

That's not anti-theft paste, it's gold paint. It came out very easily, alloy on alloy.
Unlike the nds cup - the BB was rusted up so badly it was hard to turn the cranks.
Headset was also a pig to unscrew. -

Ahhh, I had one of these in '84. I loved it.
Yeah, I'd go with hma's suggestion, add a triple chainset.
Looks like a 21" frame.

It's a 19.5" frame, whereas as 21" fits me nicely.
I've no interest in building a tourer, so will not do.
Bought some wheels and a fork to replace that incongruous O.E. 27" Tange steel thing. -

I've been taking it easy with this one, cleaning it all up. Should be finished with the cleaning by the weekend.
^^ See that Sugino seat post with rather important parts missing?
I need these parts - anyone? -

Looks like Smoothrite rather than Hammerite to me...
-

It's Hammerite from a spray can which gives a smoother finish than brush painting.
'Finer' would be the wrong term. -
• #12
Hammerite was stripped off all parts by soaking them in biodiesel which wrinkles it so that it can be scraped off with a firm plastic blade.
As suspected, the frame's original paint undeneath was pretty good - just a few chips and areas of oxidation to touch in. -

Rides really nicely, so stiff.
This could be a CP, like I need another...
Have just acquired an interesting bike, a ST400 from 1984.
Bought it expecting a full 600 group. Which it has, discounting the hubs.
Looks a right sh*tter, tbh!
Full black Hammerite respray, done with all parts 'in-situ'!
Tempted to do it, if it fits me (no seat), or at least clean all that crap, muck and rust off and see how it looks.
I've a cunning plan on the Hammerite...oh yes.
