Apparently there are bicycles now that allow you to change the chain ring and sprocket size while you ride! Perhaps you should look into them?
(sorry)

If you don;t notice a change between the first two, then beef those legs up.

It's not the legs that hurt, it's my knees while mashing those hills, they feel like they're going to snap or pop :(

Beef those legs up and see a chiropractor about your knees you probably have bigger issues than gear ratio

I've always had slight problems with my knees that why I don't want go any higher with GR.
Think 60 GI would be way too spinny? -

Think 60 GI would be way too spinny?Have a flick through these. Maybe you've got your bike set up wrong, maybe your knees are shot, maybe riding fixed/SS just isn't for you. It could be a whole host of things. Spinning might not be your solution.
Hi guys.
I need help. I recently changed my gear ratio from 46:16 to 44:17 thinking that it would help me get up the monster hills that are included in my commute, but it hasn't made the slight bit of difference.
I was wondering if I'd notice a difference dropping from 71.68 (current GI) to around 63.18 (46:19) or around 60 (46:20). I know I'll probably end up spinning like a mad man, but I'm not that concerned about top speed as there a lot of lights on my commute as well as those hill wrecking hills.
Cheers guys.
