Do you know the year of manufacture?

Lovely stuff. Is it just me though or are those brake cables crazy long?
-
• #4
Just you.

V. nice !!!
On the same note, shouldn't those cables be routed behind the drop bars?? -
• #6
I think otherwise they would disturb the ears of the rider, that's why they're bellow.
Or the restorer wanted to be simply generous to the next owner, who might want to change the stem to a 150mm, u know these tall people would do anything, I mean anything for their spinal comfort. -

Ps.: free cable cutting, cable re-routing, and 3 more NOS Pinarello pantographed foamy bartapes to the dibs folks. In red, white and blue colors if I remember well. Tomorrow will check the dropouts.

Where do you find a stem of 150mm, Pinarello-marked?
Ive got an -85 Pinarello, and would like a longer stem.
Yes Im tall....welll sort of...almost 6,4..;) -

I wouldn't trust a quill stem at that length. But you get your desired stem and custom-engrave it to any logo you wish.

thanks for the question, it looked definitely mid '80s to me, but the RD is Pat. 79. so I thought might be early '80s. now checked it more properly.
it seems like it's from late 84 or 85. definitely not before, as it has 2 bottle-cage holders. the shape of the front fork, the Cinelli stem instead of the TTT, makes it a Special , and not a Treviso, though oand it's not a Montello, as that one had the inner cable routing from the beginning if I know it well. so the RD at least is 5 years pre-dated, I can look for an older PAT. 84 RD if someone is after that, it came like this into my possession long time ago, and it looked so intact, I didn't bother touching her.

no way, bicycle is made til 1983... Pinarello bicycles from 1984 and 1985 and later models have decal with sign "Champione Olimpico, Champione D Italia 1984"

Possible split for frame only?
-
• #18
Would you consider selling frame, seat post+saddle and stem?
-
• #19
sorry guys, was away for a while. the bicycle is still for sale. though I got it out of the storage room and discovered the decals have no clear coat on. I was sure they had. if somebody prefers to, I can arrange a clear coat over them at my expense of course. if it won't sell as it is, I am ready to split it in April.
-
• #20
Hi there, if eventually you would split, I would like you to contact me as I am interested on Stem and saddle. Thank you and glws
-
• #21
I will drop the price to 850 shipped to UK and EU if one doesn't need another clear coat on the decals. 950 to the rest of the World.

Wheels are 32H Mavic Argent 10 tubulars rolling on Tufo S2 tires.

It's almost worth buying just as an excuse to then get this:

Excuse my ignorance, but wouldn't you trust?

I believe in stem matching frame geometry rather than compensating small frame size with long stem. above 120mm should be flexible too for serious exertion.
Up for sale an immaculate beauty for classic lovers from my personal collection, out of use for more than 20 years now. The frame has once been professionally restored for the weakness of original decals and scratches on the paint. It is absolutely flawless, you can get on her for your dry Sunday ride along the river or keep her behind the window and polish her every week with orange oil.

Sizes:
ST: 590 (C-C), TT: 570, HT: 175
Equipped with similar condition, but original, un-restored Campagnolo Super Record PAT. 79. Gruppo, titanium bolts, Pantographed chain-ring, shifter levers and stem, drilled crank, Cinelli Volare SLX saddle, etc.
The saddle alone goes for more than 100 on the bay. The frame is the top of the pre-Montello era of Pinarello range.
The main reason behind the professional restoration was to correct the only mistake of Giovanni, the miserable decal quality they used all around the end of '70s to the end of '80s. Now it has base coat, two high quality metallic color coats, decals and 2 clear coats, done in professional paint shop with heat treatment, looks stunning, strong and shiny.
Looking for 900 GBP shipped to the UK or EU, 1000GBP to the rest of the world. If you are happy with another matching era saddle instead of the Volare, I'm happy to drop 100.
