That is excellent value for a brand new bike. Where possible I would always recommend trying something out in person, you cannot be sure what will be comfortable by a picture alone.
For about £200 you can usually build up something nice based on a high end steel frame from the 80's-90's - If you buy a well used road bike like this they are usually never stolen. Just stay away from gumtree! Especially london gumtree.
A few bits like cables, tyres, maybe the rear wheel and chain/cassette usually need changing. A bike like this will usually cost about £120 leaving you about £80 to fix it up, which is usually enough if you are thrifty. Depends on how much time you want to waste hunting down parts. Just add more money to get something in a hurry with more convenience. Even if you spent £500, if you are using it for commuting it will pay for itself in no time.

Cheers.
I have my BSA which needs a chain, and an inner tube but it is too nice to leave in town... also I dont want to get it salty.
I think the Schwinn could be the winner

Picked up a second hand Schwinn SS last night. Really nice though the rear brake will take some getting used to!

Looking for a bike to commute 8 miles a day on. I have looked at 6 2nd hand bikes this week. All had dodgy frame numbers or came up as stolen(1). I do not wish to lose my SGC by handling stolen goods.
Anyone know of any similar bikes or near or better quality.
Doesnt need to be SS geared is fine. Skinny tyres and unassuming is important.
Helps...
