• VERY reluctant sale of my pride and joy. Plans to start my own business means I need to raise some capital.

Never thought I'd sell this as it's my dream frameset and rides like a dream. This is the finest steel frameset money can buy (in fact you can't buy them anymore as Serotta stopped making steel framesets even before they went pop). It has all the superb ride qualities of a high end hand made steel frame but with additional comfort and efficiencies from the carbon seat stays.

It's very fast and rides like a full bore road race bike, but also has impeccable, stable handling so goes down as well as it goes up. It's got a 54cm horizontal top tube (c2c), 128mm head tube and a 195mm steerer on the fork. Seat tube is 54cm ctc and 56.5cm to the top of the clamp. Seat post diameter is 27.2mm and the steerer tube is 1 1/8". If you want any other measurements let me know and I'll get the tape out.

The forks have titanium dropouts and of course are full carbon with a full carbon steerer. The headset is a black sotto voce Chris King.

The paint scheme is the nuts and looks even better in the flesh than it does in the pics. This was my best/sunny day only summer bike and still would be if I didn't need to raise some funds. It's done 1401.9 (Strava logged) miles in total since I had it from new. Let's call it 1402 miles since new :-)

I've had it 3 years. I've tried to keep it in as good condition as possible as it's my pride and joy and have put helicopter tape in any areas where the cable would otherwise rub. The paint came away from the mech hanger a bit when I changed from SRAM to Campag, so it's a bit scruffy there, although you can't really see it once the mech etc is fitted. The only significant damage is to the chainstay where the chain has slapped it. It did it once and took some paint off around the Serotta logo. I covered whole logo with helicopter tape to protect the exposed steel, but it happened again and whilst it hasn't done any more damage to the paint it has chewed the helicopter tape. You can see this in the pics. There are the usual marks where the brakes are fitted and there are a few scoring marks on the inside at the top of the forks where I assume something got pulled though by the tyre, otherwise the frameset is in superb condition. BB threads BSA and all good.

I've included some pics of it built up in a couple of guises. Cyclefit were selling these at £3,700 for frame and forks (until Serotta stopped production). I'm looking for for the frame, fork, headset and Serotta logo stamped seat clamp, cash or paypal gift preferred. Can probably hand deliver if it's somewhere in the SE of England, and I do travel around the country a fair bit with work, so PM about other locations if interested.

Stem pictured not included. Thanks for looking. Any questions please ask.

  • More pics:

    The rough with the smooth...

  • You cannot sell this

  • I've set the price at the absolute minimum I could let it go for. It breaks my heart....

  • Someone please. Loan. Please someone give me a loan. I need this in my life. I just jumped out of my seat with my iPad in hand due to excitement. Yetidamo I can pay you in like, five years, if I can have the frame now?

In all seriousness, a shame you're selling and a shame I cannot afford. Beautiful frame.

  • Thanks Jake. Anyone know why the links on the OP have dropped from being images to links? Can't seem to fix it. Thanks.

  • Great looking bike. Sorry you couldent keep!

    Gl with the sale.

  • Thanks Jake. Anyone know why the links on the OP have dropped from being images to links? Can't seem to fix it. Thanks.

Are/were the images larger than 1024x768 pixels? I think that's the limit before it reduces images to links, as to not hog bandwidth and make the forum look untidy.

  • Pics are showing now!

Oh my, what a lovely bike.

  • No, they're the same as the other images on the later posts. They worked at first and the links should show the images, so I'm at a loss. Thanks for giving it some thought though.

Oh my, what a lovely bike.

    Yep, fixed them now. Thanks.

  • Keep this. I'd hate to give up my serotta, really special bikes.

  • Damn! That's some enthusiasm, can someone educate me on what makes this so special?

  • Some of the finest frames, made to tighter tolerances than anyone else.

  • Simply beautiful. Must have made it to porn thread.

  • Keepin it on the first page bump.

Someone needs to c and buy this!

  • Magnificent frame. Disgustingly nice with Campag hanging from it. Get yourself on Dragon's Den instead.

  • uuurgghghhhhhhh

thankfully its too small for me

  • thankfully slightly too big. That is utterly gorgeous. Dream bike

  • Thanks for the nice comments and the bump BBB.

Everyone (rightly) points out the beauty of the frameset, but its functional too. I've ridden it to a 23:16 on one of Kent's more "sporting" 10 courses with no aero aids. And most of my fave KOMs on Strava have been aboard the Serotta too so its not just a pretty face. :)

  • bump

  • I rode a serotta steel bike today for the first time. I would have loved to try one a bit more my size but i could tell how nice it was :)

  • this also my perfect size.

    ugh.

  • Last chance saloon before I take it to other "markets" and therefore have to remove from sale from here. I'd prefer to sell to someone on here as I think it will go to a better home and be appreciated more, but sadly I need to sell, so will have to try other avenues if there isn't the interest here. Thanks folks.

  • Did you sell this elsewhere D?
