  • Just purchased a 2010 Felt TK3 from Telescope1608, wanted to build a fast bike, for general use with maybe some TT use with some modifications.

    Heres the frame;

    Many parts will be taken of my Cinelli Gazzetta which I will eventually turn
    into a more of a everyday bike. This is how it looks now.

    Parts to be taken from this to the Felt include wheels (both Goldtec hubs, front Archetype, rear Formation Face), the bars (Zipp course SL) and the seat post. These parts will be replaced with some Novatecs I have laced to some unknown rims, risers and any old seatpost.

    New parts ordered for the Felt inlcude, Omniums, and an Airone. I still need to order a new stem (still unsure), pedals and shoes (I'm going clipless and am thinking Time ATAC with MTB shoes, but help with model of shoe and pedal would be great as I've never used clipless pedals before!)

    Still unsure of tyres, on the Felt likely a Gatorskin hardshell rear with a faster Conti on the front, for the Cinelli Ill probably have a Gatorskin on the front with a Vitorria Rubino or something similar for the rear.

    Will update as parts arrive, the Felt's cranks should go on sometime this week, cheers!

  • What bars on the Gazzetta, risers?

  • Did i spot you wandering around Bristol carrying this earlier? Really like those frames, shame they only pop up rarely and in tiny sizes

  • I run a pair of Giro Guage shoes, they're my first clipless and are pretty damn good. Pedals wise i went with the generic Shimano M520. It's pretty good set up, the pedals are slightly heavy though.

  • Yea low risers for the Cinelli.

    Yea, needed a star flanged nut. This is a 56 which is a bit small for me but ill just use a longer stem.

    Cool, do you ride brakeless? Just thinking atacs as I don't want any accidental clipping out!

  • is that felt at 56? It looks tiny compared to the cinelli!

  • Yea felt is a 56, the Cinelli is a 58, it will be sortta compact just need a longer stem.

    Omniums have just arrived, will be fitting them soon.

  • Well got an update on the Felt, went for a second hand Ritchey WCS 4 axis stem in the end, bars, stem saddle and seat post are fitted;

    The saddle to bar drop looks big but is ok when the drop outs and the forks are level. Nothing new about the Cinelli, apart from a crappy new seat post. Should be fitting the Omniums today if the tool arrives!

  • These...

    .. would suit the Felt.

  • Just fitting the Omniums and a little bit confused about spacing, first off I thought I needed two spacers on either side (as i have a 68mm shell) then realised this was for mountain bikes. Now I'm just wandering about chainline, I believe the Omniums are 42mm (correct me if I'm wrong!) and according to this http://sheldonbrown.com/chainline-single.html my rear chainline is 46.23, so I need 4mm on the drive side. Can anyone tell me if I'm wrong as some forums say the Goldtec chainline has recently shortened (I have an EAI 1 8 on the back with a Goldtec hub bough new around 6 months ago.)

    Finally some also say the spindle of the Omniums is 68mm and shortening it with spacers may be dangerous, should I use a 4mm spacer on the drive side or not??

  • using 4mms on the drive side or either side isn't really advisable. To be honest is you chainline is of a bit you probably wont even notice. i think goldtecs are about 44mm

  • Yea just measured the the goldtecs, there actually around 42mm, the new ones are apparently 42.5, and the omniums are 42 so that should be fine!

    Still confused on chainline though, although Goldtec say on there website there chainline is 42.5 surely it depends also on the cog, using the Shedlon method (measurng the middle of the sprocket cluster to the inside of the fork end and subtracting it by half the axle length my rear chainline is 43mm, which is pretty perfect.) I think ill just ride it if its really noisy maybe do some more precise measurements and shim between the chain ring and the spider.

  • what chain do you plan on using? Get a KMC 510HX

  • For the moment will be suing a KMC devil 101

  • Is that a Kool?

  • Anyway cranks are on

  • Since I'm impatient and currently have no bike I think I will build up the felt today with the Cinellies pedals aswell, while im saving for some Time ATAC xc4's and some Mavic Rush's. I'll post it when its done.

  • Is that a Kool?

    nope but it's better and cheaper. Get it built up and come out and ride tonight.

  • I would but its my dads birthday, out for a meal, I'll be out next week, hopefully with the new pedals etc.

  • frame looks awesome, reminds me of tron

  • Well this is what my impatience served me with

    Just gone out for a spin, really stiff, rides nice.

    Unfortunatley the Cinelli looks like this;

    I still need a rear wheel for the Cinelli, a mudgard and some risers for the Cinelli. I also need a new chain for the Felt (will use the one pictured on the Cinelli) as well as shoes and pedals (again I will use the pedals pictured on the felt on the Cinelli.)

    For pedals I was thinking http://www.wiggle.co.uk/time-roc-atac-xc2-pedals/ and for shoes I was thinking http://www.slanecycles.com/mavic-rush-shoes-black-2013-size-13-p-24348-a-49-o-6358.html

    Ill update once thats all done!

  • Well deciding to sell the Cinelli and gunna go for a rigid steel mountain bike for a runner. So if anyone wants a 58cm Gazzetta with a tange bb and Miche primato cranks and chain ring give me a pm!

    This has also allowed me to go to town with the felt. I need a new chain thinking Izumi super v for the hell of it, is it really worth it? And I do plan to take the felt to the track.

  • How much are you after, I could be interested.

  • Few updates to the felt, got a new chain
