Where do bike shops buy their bikes?

When I go into BLB for example, I find a huge selection of vintage frames, mostly Italian and English, some in perfect condition.

Where do they find them? If I went to Italy I wouldn't know where to start! And how do they manage to make a profit off them? Does anyone know these secrets?
