Have you tried working out the threading on the bung and then just buying a new bolt?

Well, I have 3 bolts with 3 bungs at home, all of which have a different threading, which left me thinking I'd be best off buying a bung and bolt together?
not really sure how I should find out the threading, and where I would get a bolt. I guess I'm trying the path of least resistance first.

Got a stem I can't see me using: total length of bolt is 130mm, 40mm of which is threaded.
Any good?

Think that could be just the ticket, will measure and double check before asking you to post it if that's ok?

• #7
Sure, not working today so I can get it in the post this afternoon...

Ah right maybe not going to be where my bike stuff is for a couple of days, if posting this afternoon is convenient shall we just give it a try?
-
• #9
Why not? If it doesn't work, you can send it back: PM me your address.

Cool will drop you a PM.

Did it work?

No sign of the stem as yet /:

Posted 1st class, same day: well that's bollocks.

The last stem someone sent me went astray, not had any other problems with Royal Mail apart from that...

It was just the bolt and bung I sent, small padded envelope.
First time anything has gone astray for me. So now we both have unusable stems.

Would you believe, that posted was 9p short, so it had been held back by royal cuntos.
Received it today after paying their ransome and does the job intended cheers.

Sorry about that: I had some stamps knocking about, but I guess they were "old" 1st class?
Anyway, all's well that end's well!
My Ergostem has a non original bolt and bung, which is too long and therefore doesn't work right clever.
Does anyone have an old stem with a short bolt + bung, or just a bolt and bung, that they could post me?
Forgot to measure it but I think I need around 10 - 12 cm, and it's an expanding bung type rather than a wedge.
