Sorry to bump an old thread...
I have just moved in a new flat and now have the space to have a wheel truing stand.
I have spent about £100 in wheel truing this year so it is time for me to learn how to do it .
CheersVince

Build one!

Or just stick the wheels on a bike with brakes and tighten them so as close the rim as possible and true from there.

^I'm gonna try that!

Obviously the more DIY options aren't quite as precise but can easily get the wheels true within a mm or so.

Too evolved for me!
Spare stand anyone?

I thought I would bump this thread as I am looking for a stand.
Fed up of paying £10 to get 2mm straightened on a wheel so it is time for me to learn...

Dude... My job is building wheels. You don't need a stand.
Step one: remove tires and tubes.
Step two: buy two zip ties and a ruler.
Step three: place wheel in fork/dropouts.
Step four: attach zip ties and ruler with tape, ruler for up/down (roundness) and zip ties for left/right (lateral trueness)
Step five: true away, rotate the zip ties in for closer contact, move ruler up/ down fo closer contact.
Step 6: accept that 1mm is good enough for any purpose.
Don't spend 100 pounds on a stand. If you want a really stable wheel buy a tension meter and learn to true properly. It will take a while.

I bought a £15 ebay job.
It's more convenient than truing on the bike.

I am still looking for a truing stand.
I have an automatic search on eBay but it's all been meh.
Let me know if you have anything lying around.
