Drill wanted in London area

Posted on
  • I'm in need of a drill, as I want to mount my bike on the wall of my apartment.

The walls are made of stone, or brick, something hard (not plaster or wood).

Not 100% sure of the drillbit size I need, as the mounting frame is yet to arrive in the mail.

I understand a drill is an expensive item, so I'd be willing to leave a deposit if anybody is willing to lend me one.

I'm in London, NW1 area, and I'm willing to commute to anywhere within the zone 1 & 2 area.

    Cheers and thanks.

  • Hammer drills aren't that expensive, vs. NW1 rental costs.
Check out Screwfix...buy one for under a day's rent, use, then sell.
    Or keep, being useful items.

  • I would purchase if need be, but just prefer to borrow if possible.

Ill take your suggestion on board though thanks.

If anybody does have one for borrowing though please let me know

  • I'd lend you mine but I'm in Zone 3 / 4 borders.

That's a shame, but thanks for offering anyway.

In parallel, I'm also taking your advice and shopping for a cheap drill. Will see if any other offers to lend pop up whilst I'm waiting for my hanger to arrive.

    Cheers.

  • I've got a drill you can borrow, but I'm in East Dulwich. Still, PM me if you don't think its too far.

  • Car boot sale. £3 for an ancient metal-bodied Black-and-Decker that could drill a new tunnel under the Thames and will last three thousand years before breaking.

I'm pretty new to London, so not sure where I'd go to find something like this... but it'd be exactly what I'm after.

  • Just google for a car boot sale in your area, there's bound to be one. To get the bargains you need to get there early... really early. Otherwise the dealers buy up all the good stuff before you've even had your breakfast!

  • Awesome, just found one and will be heading there next saturday. Cheers.

  • Best of luck!

  • How far is east Beers to you?

I can lend you my comedy tesco drill, it sparks as its used, but as tesco says every little helps.

  • i've got this, or the old version of it, works fine for drilling normal stuff. not exactly a precision tool but if you put the bit in straight its fine.

A little bit far, but I could make it if nothing closer comes up. I'll keep it in mind, thanks for offering.

Are you serious about the sparks though? Sounds funny but dangerous.
