  • On the way home last night in a side street there was a car ahead of me, an old silver Astra, driving very slowly but erratically. At first I figured it was someone looking for a door number so I gave them the benefit of the doubt. It was only when I went to overtake that I saw a kid of no older than 10 was driving the car. He looked resplendent in his Arsenal shirt and his big grin. His mother, you know the sort, was sitting next to him in the passenger seat giving him directions. I was too shocked for words other than 'Are you sure this is a good idea?' What shocked me more was not the kid driving but that it happened in Finchley. This beahviour is really not acceptable in this part of town I should have said.

I guess I should have phoned the OB but it's not my cup of tea.
    I still can't believe it

  • Feeling your age mike?

  • Kids are definitely getting younger these days.

  • I guess I should have phoned the OB but it's not my cup of tea.

Yeah, I suppose there's no danger worthwhile to bother the police with, clearly.

  • It wasn't some kid joy riding a nicked car.

As surprised I would be to witness it, I would just let them be rather than calling the cops.

  • No it was a kid with his Mum and he was definitely primary school age.
I don't know what to think. Let him have a go at driving to deter him from nicking cars when he is older? Yes fair enough but perhaps not on a public road

  • ^^ How come? it's pretty fucking dangerous to let a child drive.

  • I don't know, I'm probably considered a kid myself by the older people on here (I'm 18) but if it was on an empty side road....I guess we all have to learn somehow? A busy road however....no way.

I guess I'll be considered an adult when my opinion changes LOL

  • I guess we all have to learn somehow?

Yes, by booking a driving lesson in a learner car/private car with an L plate on it.

I haven't done my driving test yet.

  • arsenal fans
    rolls eyes

at least they are following wengers mantra and getting them young

when you reach the proper age ... i.e. 17

  • If you didn't get their plates and report them >>>

  • The thread title. Oh my.

  • Finchley really has gone to the dogs.

  • The thread title. Oh my.

    hahahaha

  • The thread title. Oh my.

  • FFS Mike, you're an adult with children of your own, grow a pair and report it to the police. There's a good reason why children are not allowed to drive and responsible adults understand this.

  • LOL @Title
Andy says it how it is
If I had phoned the police then would they really have bothered to turn up? Would I have had to hang around for ages when I wanted to get home myself. I don't think the mother was a responsible adult to be honest.

But yes I think I will report it to the police now and see what they say. It's likely they live in the road so maybe they can do something

  • If I had phoned the police then would they really have bothered to turn up?

    Are you fucking serious?

A child was illegally driving a car and you don't think it's worth bothering the police with?

I don't think the mother was a responsible adult to be honest.

    You don't think??

  • You should have called the Police, haven't you seen Spiderman?

  • Are you fucking serious?

    You don't think??

Erm are you fucking kidding me?
I got mugged one night had my face smashed in what did the OB say?
    Are you seriously injured?
er well I'm not dying if that's what you mean but I am a little shaken up.
OK well we will be round in 4 hours
    Erm it's 2am
yes we are rather busy tonight
Erm OK well forget it I'm going to bed.

I rang them once when toerags were breaking into the garage next door and they turned up over an hour later.
I really dont think they are going to send the flying squad down for a couple of pikeys

  • My apologies, it wasn't know that you were excluded from reporting anything to the police.

Depends what your 'norms' or social parameters are, over in South London back in the day, kids were driving , and some 10 year olds had enough firearms to be classed as vertically challenged militia

  • Yeah that's my point. When I lived in Bermondsey 10 years ago this kind of behaviour was a relief because at least they weren't blowing the car up.

  • My apologies, it wasn't know that you were excluded from reporting anything to the police.

Ed, when you are six foot down, stop digging...
