I'm basically becoming addicted to this stuff.

I was sent some free ones, but had used them a couple of years ago too. It's pretty much the only constant in cycling hydration for me, 1 tablet in a bottle, 2 or 3 in a backpack (the Camelbak things, depending on the size of the backpack).

Water is good, but Nuun shines at making you feel hydrated, fresh and aware when water alone may be doing the job but doesn't make you feel it.

And at 50p per drink, it's a good cheap drink with packed lunches to help avoid the post-lunch slump.

Anyhow, no thread on Nuun and I think the stuff rocks, so now a thread on Nuun.

Am yet to try Nuun, am on SiS at the mo cos they have it in Tescos. It does the job but tastes like shit.
Best place to get a few packs of Nuun for cheaps?

I set out with zero most of the time, then diluted power or lucoz ade from shops for refills on big rides.

Looks like zero is similar stuff and available cheaper.

I've used Zero too, but haven't found I've felt refreshed as soon as Nuun does.

What I can't find anywhere is the Nuun solo wrapped tablets... that is, the tablets come individually wrapped which make them perfect to be shoved in a bag for longer journeys where you might need only 1 or 2 to top up as you go.

Those available, but perhaps those are just promotional samplers.

edmunro, there's a forumenger that works for Nuun, I never ask for a second run of freebies after having one as I feel uncomfortable doing so, but you could perhaps ask her to send you a few of the promo samplers if she has them.

I don't beleive in individually wrapped things like that, bad for enviroment innit (I know it makes no difference in the scheme of things...)

Usually if I'm going far enough to need more than 2 bottles, I'm going far enough to need carbs/sugars as well as salts.

Haven't found any tablet forms that have a content as such...

Yeah, just 1 tab per bottle.

You could put 1.5 tabs in, but I don't really buy that I'm that much of an athlete that the extra would make a difference. So long as I feel fresh and alert when previously drained and covered in sweat... then it's the right amount.

More ninja'ing I'm afraid.

Not half, I think the cola one is a vile taste. Still does the job, and yes it has the caffeine kick, but for me... urgh.

At Wiggle prices, per bottle, nuun comes out at 45p, zero at 26p... (bearing in mind zero can be found even cheaper on deals)

I would be interested to try it I guess, but when it comes down to numbers, is it 40% better?

Nuun is lovely, got some free stuff a year or so ago but baulked at the price when I went to buy some...

Flavour-wise Nuun is the best and also dissolves alot more 'cleanly' than Zero.

SIS Go hydro tablets are somewhere in between and I've got them for half price @ £3.49 for 20 tabs in Sainburys a couple of times.

Funnily enough I've been hahving a little search about for best prices as my christmas stock of nuun ran out on saturday, ribble seems to be cheapest but only if you're spending over 50squids.

Only had the lemon and lime one but they work both post exercise and the morning after the night before!

Nuun are luvverly and taste much better that the zero stuff which is more than a bit minging.

Never really considered the price, always seemed reasonable.

I use SIS Hydro now and then. They make water stop tasting like water which is nice.

+1 on the Nuun Kona Cola tablets. I switch between High5 Zero and Nuun tablets and while the Nuuns are slightly better there's not much between them. A couple of Kona Cola tablets in a pint of water is also a pretty effective hangover cure in my experience. Certainly takes the edge off, anyway.

I disagree. I like the coke flavour. The cherry one is rank - there are a couple of other ones to avoid too; I the banana one is a bit :-/ for example.

Best flavours:
Pink lemonade, tropical, tri-berry (or whatever it's called), coke, and the lime one.

Aside from being good on-and-post bike hydration, Nuun is also a top class hangover cure. #protip

zero are rank, frankly. I do like the caffeine zero tablets for morning rides though.

My girlfriend loves the banana flavour. And I quite like having the cherry.
