You can leave the stays off the new ones if you don't like them, and the new Q/R version comes with an adapter to fit to the saddlebag to.
In addition it is possible now to attach a light to the new one using the stay bolt, whether you use the stay or not. Much improved in my opinion.
Failing all that though I have an old Q\R type I might part with. How much are you willing to pay to convince me I need to sell it? -

I thought the new one was alloy and needed the support strut or something? Whereas old ones were steel and more stable? Maybe I'm getting confused.
As for how much I'd pay, no idea really... I'd like one, but it's not essential. I'll have a look at ebay sold prices.

Last ditch, pre-Dunwich check to see if anyone's got one of these they'd like to get rid of before Saturday?
(Not too far from South London)
Anyone got one of the older, steel supports suitable for a Carradice Barley? Having finally decided I need one of these to stop the bag swinging around, I've discovered that the only version now available seems to have ugly support struts which I'm not too keen on.
