Wanted: Olympic bar / weights

Has anyone got an olympic bar and/or weight plates that they would be willing to sell?

Yes, wanting to upgrade from a 'standard' 1" barbell and rusty plates.

you could try machining the centre hole to 2" with a lathe, might be worth it if you have a lot of heavy 1" plates.
other than that i'd recommend gumtree, quality gear does pop up from time to time. ebay's ok but be prepared to drive for miles to pick stuff up.

if you want to buy new, strengthshop has a range of reasonably priced good quality options.

I have a york mt32002 - £400 ballpark bar. Never been used. Might be a bit excessive for your needs though..

Yeah, I actually saw something local and almost exactly what I needed but as I was contacting the seller the ad was closed. Grr!

Someone recommended Strength Shop to me earlier but it's still a bit out of my price range really. I think I'll just stick to trawling through eBay and Gumtree until I find something perfect, cheap and nearby... so, never.

Strengthshop do bars for about £60

You wont get cheaper than that for anything that works. You dont want to cheap out here, id spend more like £200 minimum for something new, or hunt down something good S/H.

Have you tried your local freecycle?

DFP, I couldn't find any bars for that cheap on their site. I think that's a very decent price.

Ed, I'll make a post about it and see what happens. I don't see anyone (who knows anything about the value of equipment) giving away a set of olympic weights though.

Just won a second hand 7' olympic bar with collars for the starting bid of £35 on eBay. Now for the weights... anyone?
