Obviously us at A6, at least if you need a odd old part or something. Withington are good for MTB, bike doctor are good but there is a wait to get stuff done. Pop up bikes if you want coffee too (and me on a Wednesday), although we don't keep much stock. Harry Halls and bike boutique are always nice too.

Yeah, me and voidcore work there. Bit of a budget shop but we do have 25 years worth of old tat out the back so if you're stuck for a old bit we might have it.

Anyone ever used Lane End Cycles in Burnage?
-
• #11
Near the tesco? I've only looked through the windows, stocked the kind of stuff we do so probably more of a low budget place.

That's the place.
He's survived a few years now so must be doing OKish but never done much more than looking at the bikes outside and through the windows.
I think he may have something to do with the Parrs Wood Cycle jumbles too.

Rather than start a new thread, thought i'd post in here.
Any of you lot (mechanics or not) ever converted a freewheel to a suicide hub?
-
• #14
Not done it myself but there's nothing fundamentally wrong with doing it, I wouldn't skid it though due to no proper lockring.
-
• #15
I'm not the skidding type anyway, so that's not a problem ;)
Just thinking of doing it, but have zero experience. So if there's someone who's a dab hand, i thought i could maybe exchange skills for beer or something.

Rotafixing is your best bet no tools needed just bike and a rag to put on your bb shell

I really like Lane End Cycles - small friendly shop, good at getting fairly simple things done quickly for very reasonable prices (never gone there for anything too serious or complex so don't know his scope).

I stripped my fixed side and have been running a fixed cog on the freewheel side for 6 months now, added a brake for safety but skid on it daily and have had no problems, yet...

'Scuse my ignorance, you work in a bike shop don't you? My brain is associating your name with a bike shop.
I got a front brake on the bike. But (a) riding freewheel again after fiver years fixed is totally freaking me out (b) despite having a brake, it just doesn't feel safe.
