• We're looking for someone to join us.

You'll be a key hire, our first employee, and as such you will get meaningful equity and join us for a really interesting and growing part of the company life... hopefully you'll see us go from 3 people (including you) to 100 people.

Things that we think are relevant:

    • Exposure to architectural patterns of a large, high-scale web application

    • Exceptional proficiency using HTML/CSS/Javascript/AJAX

    • Demonstrated design and UX sensibilities

    • Rigor in A/B testing, test coverage, and other web best practices

    What we offer:

    • Friendly and flexible (hours and location) environment

    • A real challenge and interesting work

    • A learning environment (it goes two ways, we want to teach you what we know, and to learn what you know)

    • If you are the right person, then the chance over time to build a team around you

    • Stock options

    • Equipment of your choice (new Mac Air? new Lenovo laptop?)

    • Above average holidays (we don't really keep track except to ensure you take time off)

Some things will vary a lot, for example the location will just be central London as we are currently near Waterloo and will need to move office as we grow.

Regarding equality: We couldn't care less about colour, sex, disabilities, education, background, location, etc... if you can craft an elegant web front-end we want you. Remote working also works for us so long as we are colocated occasionally.

You can PM me or email me: david@microcosm.cc

  • ^ What a great opportunity!

Gah, I was thinking that this is one of those few 'goes without saying' things that actually went without anyone saying it.

    Now it's been said. +1

  • Exactly. Hopefully David's being PMed like crazy.

  • All quiet on the Western Front.

  • Not really... we're seeing someone tomorrow.

But this is a stealth way of advertising... it's not like we're actually hitting the places that front-end devs hangout... just like the idea of initially seeing whether someone who understands communities because they use a site like this, is out there and looking. Clearly that would give the person a big head-start on understanding what users want.

  • if only I had any of the skillz.

  • good luck with this - if I think of anyone I'll point them here. Great opportunity.

  • how are you getting on Dave? I might ping a couple of people.

  • Pretty well, we're confident that we've found someone (off here) and that they are the right person.

We're going to do a one-day work trial so that we're both doubly sure, as that's the smart thing to do from both perspectives.

In theory that means people can still contact us and we still have the position open, but we hope that in practise this is just a formality and within a couple of weeks (after the 1 day work trial) we'll have made an offer that will be accepted.
