Good work Fred, there needs to be more people in on this.
It's an amazing part of the country and assuming the weather is good(it almost always is down that way) it's certain to be an ace weekend whatever people come down for.
Should have room in our car for a bag or two and maybe a person and their bike too. -

What a great plan. I enjoyed many happy family day trips to Weymouth and other beaches along that coastline. Never found a fossil. Caught (and then released) a fair few crustaceans though.

paging mr mental, mr mental where are you !!
-

Ha, me and Farid were discussing Mr Mental last weekend. The campsite this time is a tad more curtain-twitchy and twee. We'd be burned as witches if he rocked up...
Weymouth is amazing as Mouse says, fossils abound, I can help you find a fistful of belamites(sp?) at least I'm sure. -

Fred, do you think I could bring Frania with me?
-
• #7
Ok, so I'm in with my daughter. No bikes - just us and a tent.
Now, because I will have no bike, I'd prefer to cotch up with Fred in his van, but if more people decide to go, I can also offer place in my car (3 spaces).
Unfortunately can't take any bikes, as I left the roof bars at my parents' house and can't use the boot mounted rack, because of the plastic spoiler on the roof.
Now, if anybody owns a set of universal roof bars and a roof mounted bike rack, I'd be grateful if they came forward :-) -

Sorry - no all male/female parties accepted without prior arrangement.
No ghey stuff?

Think I'm in Bournemouth that weekend for a family thing in the Saturday. Absolutely up for some climbing Sunday if you'd still be around? When are people heading down Friday? Would be up for using some car space/having some train company! Will have to check with Jimbilly, not sure if he's working that weekend or not.

Sounds beautiful Kris. I wish I'd had more father-daughter experiences like this. Not sure about 'cotching up' but I'm going to assume it's a good thing.

Sam, I'm going friday after work, but Ed is leaving earlier, that morning i think. Get on it, Jim too.
Kris, great news.
MM, will we see you there? -
• #12
I go there in the morning, Fred - you pick up my daughter from school :-)

Bump for an excuse to go camping, ride bikes and sit in the sun.
How is there so many people on this forum, but only a few who aren't afraid to leave london with it's smog and overpriced flat whites? You'd spend more on a night out to Dalston Superstores than this trip will set you back....
Oh, and the climbing will be boss too. -

I'd love to come, but will be cycle camping my way to Germany. Have fun; Weymouth (well, Osmington Mills specifically) was where I had my most enjoyable UK camping experience to date. Incredible views over Ringstead Bay and lovely people.

I'm on the 9:35 from Waterloo, coming back Sunday evening.

Bump, who's in?
Sam, Jim?

• #17
I'm still in :-)
What do I need to bring? It's not like a proper camping or is it?

I'd love to actually but I've got some other stuff going on that weekend (baby shower, 40th birthday party, Rapha Women's 100). Thanks for the kind invitation though - another time. -

In. I'm heading down after work on Friday, bit will only be around on the Sunday (family stuff Saturday). Think Jim is considering meeting up with Darren (Sven Cycles) and then heading out to meet us wherever.

Woo! Good work. You still up for a spot of climbing on sunday?
-
• #21
Yes, defo! I'm a bit rusty though...
-
• #22
Don't worry, I'm just a bit crap...
Will come bearing all the kit I have(2 ropes, nuff quickdraws and other crap) so should be able to cover everything. -
• #23
Sweet. I've only got shoes/harness/sling anyways, too many well prepared (and better paid...) friends in the past...hah.

coolers. You two are sleeping in the van? Bring a toothbrush, duvet and pillows. And a book and suncream. That's it !

I've got a cooler and sleeping bags! Also a small igloo tent which is lucky to survive the last time I attempted to erect it, because it's not very straight forward. Can we sleep in the van then?
Do I need to pay for the camp site right now?
I'll chat with you via FB about the details.
A few of us are going to Weymouth, 5th-7th July for a forum rock-climbing weekend. For those who don't climb, Weymouth is a fantastic place to ride, being on the jurassic coast and on the tour de manche.
There are cheap train fares down to Weymouth, or spaces in cars and vans that are already going. We're taking barbeques and wine and happy to take bikes too.
We'll be camping here (warning, designers please take a valium before clicking that link).
This isn't a planned ride to Weymouth but a chance to get out of london for a weekend with your bike & hang out with some interesting forumengers, perhaps go for a day ride and then end the day around a bbq with a glass of something tasty and in good company.
