Uh oh.....

My first thought when I looked at the bike: wow! an Alan track bike. My second thought: it's not aluminium, nor is it screwed and glued. My final thought: is it an Alan?

wow, people are getting mauled lately. This is the scariest place to sell something on the internet.
(but in truth, its an excellent mechanism to protect buyers)

no, this just isn't ebay. If you list something wrongly you will be told so, usually not in an aggressive way.

what size is the seatpost diameter?
-
• #11
And out of interest, which trade show, and was it taken to the trade show as pictured above?
-
• #12
Also a full spec list of all parts and measurements will give a little more clarity.

From the ebay ad where he bought the bike;
You are bidding on a really special unique steel lugged bike built by AlanBikes from Italy in 2012 for a trade show display. This is a one off bike in the traditional colours that Alan used in their original aluminium frames in the 1970's. Very retro looking but steel and very comfortable for riding around town. It comes with Gipemme flip flop hubs so you can have either 18t fixed or 18T freewheel, FSA Gimondi 48T, 172.5 cranks, chainset, KMC chain, San Marco saddle, front brake, 110mm Zoom alloy stem. 52cm top tube, centre to centre, 53cm seat tube, centre to centre, suit rider 165-175cm. Great condition, only used for a few miles...
obviously some parts have been changed, more details can be provided if anyone is interested in buying the bike. Sensible offers considered. -

Nices tiles to be fair. Hallway?
-
• #17
Why change the forks?
-
• #18
Not a hallway it's a shop by the looks of it - reminds me of a pie and mash shop and that makes me very hungry for pie !
-
• #19
Oh yeah, of course. Converted Pie and Mash shop? Maybe a chip shop? I wonder if they did Edinburgh chip shop sauce, thats the best thing EVER.
-
• #20
No! Pie, mash and liquor with loads of vinegar is defo the best.
-
• #21
Anybody notice the red fork and yellow stem match the colour scheme of the tiles?
Joking aside, if this is indeed a one-off from a show surely it's worth the price?

You can't of tried Edinburgh chip shop sauce then... keep meaning to get some sent to me.
-
• #23
Yes, would be a nice thing to own -if it had some sort of documentation, pic from show or letter from Alan etc (if forks correct) Before I bought my Zullo frame I emailed pics to Tiziano Zullo to ask date of manufacture and if all was correct etc - he said yes all was correct (some have non-pantoed forks which are apparently added by the sellers later to NOS frames with missing forks).

Re Edinburgh chip sauce, friends have a house up there so I will try to get some asap
