Eeeeeeee!
That's the sound of me on a rollercoaster...

Tappety tappety tap!
That's the sound of you adding your name to THE LIST...
-
• #4
Sam I see you lurking. You better be all over this!
-
• #5
All over it.... like a pidgeon on a pasty. Will check me diary later.
Incidentally, I never recce'd the last part of that route after Hampton (as the thread fizzled-out) or for that matter checked where to pile bikes at Throp Prak.
It looks fine though... includes huge parks, a massive fountain, loadsa deer, a cemetery, a lock, and much much more besides!

^know those roads well. It's absolutely fine, up to Staines Road, which is a rather busy dual carriage way, but its the only way there without taking a massive detour, so just watch yourselves on that bit if you ride out.
-
• #7
^ Was about to say the same thing, its the best way out without going on massive detours.
Hmm, this or the Ditchling-Devil audax. After the Nocturne birthday shenanigans ...
-
• #8
Ah yes the Nocturne! I'll be doing both. Will try to keep the Nocturne a bit sensible though...

Ha! I'm going to Thorpe Park on my birthday with a group of mates on the 4th, I'm not cycling there though.. I would totally have been up for this at any other time!

They are currently doing 241 tickets on Kellogs cereals.

I may be in for this. Sorting out my weekend plans now.
The only thing that worries me is the early start.
-
• #16
It's a 9am start. The sun - be that what it may - should be up by then...
-
• #17
241 Kellogs makes it £12.50 a ticket.
-
• #18
Oh shit. Sunday. Out. Booo
-
• #19
How many boxes of cereal do you have to eat? What do you have to do to actually get the ticket - and how long will it take?
-
• #20
The voucher is on the box, cut it out, done.
-
• #21
I'd rather not eat the cereal, would it be too bad to cut it off the box in the shop?
-
• #22
Not even Start, the king of cereals? It's even got bikes on the box.
-
• #23
Looks like I'm buying some cereal next time I'm in Sainsburys.
-
• #24
Well I'm definitely in

Long range BBC forecast says dry and 24 degrees. Hope I haven't jinxed it!
SO!
LFGSS's famous (?) Kattiep is doing a triathlon in the Thorpe area on Sunday 9th June at some ungodly hour of the morning and we have decreed that to celebrate her tri accomplishment she should jump on a few rollercoasters and eat some dodgy hotdogs at Thorpe Park immediately afterwards!
So who wants to join us?
There are a couple of options - cycle, train or a bit of both.
To cycle it is 25 miles from Hyde Park corner using the lovely Braker's route:
Route!
Its pretty flat - looks like the only hilly section is through Richmond Park, so no bother there then!
Trains run frequently from Waterloo to Staines, where it is a 3 mile cycle to the park. Obviously there is the potential for some groupsave action if we get a few people going.
Or for those who don't want to cycle at all there is a shuttle bus from Staines station to the park.
Park tickets can bought online for £25 each if we have at least 4 of us going. I'll also have a look to see if there are any 2 for 1 deals, but it doesn't work out that much cheaper.
I propose to cycle, leaving Hyde Park corner about 9-9.30am (tbc). If the weather is shitty I may revert to the train option as I'm a fanny :P
So who's in?
