Mobile Cycle Mechanic

Sorry,,,,,This is a bit of a blatant plug for my new business as a mobile cycle mechanic in Norwich.

Have just started trading, business is slowly picking up, but could really do with some more custom.

If any of you have any advice on advertising (on a budget) please let me know. My website is picking up some traffic. Any likes / dislikes about the site ?

If any lfgss users need any bike work done, i'll happily of 25% discount on my labour prices to you.

I can also supply parts at pretty good rates. I carry some stock of singlespeed stuff, and am also a BLB authorised supplier.

Why not try contacting some medium-large local businesses about on-site cycle clinics and see if you can arrange with them scheduled times to show up for 2-3 hours at a time and work on staff bikes. People who cycle to work often don't have time to get maintenance done outside of working hours they can then advertise on site for you as well...

Some companies in Cambridge even subsidise their employee's bills through schemes like this and it counts as a 'CSR' activity for companies that embrace such things.

That way you have steady day to day business, but can also continue the on-the-fly repairs/work.

Thanks for advice, have contacted county hall and the hospital about setting up a clinic. Thinking of doing a saturday bike clinic somewhere as well, possibly a supermarket car park or similar.

Hi Peter. I did a Dr Bike thing with Jason from Bicycle Links at County Hall last year and it was very busy; it'd be a pretty good thing to tap into if you could, would probably be quite profitable. My only reservation would be competition from other bike shops, but if you can get past that and find a niche then go for it!

Ah sorry dude, it all went through Bike Links as a business-business thing, not through me personally. It's worth trying, but I'm not sure Jason will part with the info too readily!
