2013-05-16 - Rider Down, Southwark Bridge Road

Near my office on Southwark Bridge Road, near the Novotel. Can't confirm any details, but it appears there was a serious accident involving a cyclist. The road is currently closed and many paramedics (include air am) at the seen. Police have closed the road in this area.

Looking at the pictures and chatter on Twitter it would seem this incident took place on the un-seperated section of CS7 on the approach to Southwark Bridge (by the FT offices).

Fingers very firmly crossed for the rider involved and hoping they are okay.

I don't envy the London Air Ambulance crew, I think they do an incredibly difficult job.

Just came past this, right outside the Novotel as the road flattens out well before the junction. There is a brown Langster and a blue/white helmet on the pavement, I couldn't see any damage to either. I hope that is a good sign. I hope the rider is ok.

I spoke the Police outside the cordoned off area and was told the rider had survived but was in a very bad way.

Thoughts and prayers to the rider, family & friends.
