Columbus Minimal all the way.

+1 for the Columbus Minimal. There's also the Easton EC90 SLX but the Minimal is better (apparently). Alternatively the Reynolds Ouzo Pro if you can find a NOS pair.

Another plus for the Minimal, good price too;

What frame and what type of headset?
I think older LOOK and Time forks fit better. Also Mizuno do some nice ones.

Alpina. Look no further.

Is that a track fork?
-
• #8
Yup. Understated carbon 1 1/8 was requested. Not sure if rab wants road or track. Think alpinas are great value and for aesthetics. Best straight-bladed one out there, small rake. Can be drilled.

Are Columbus Tusk any good?
-
• #11
Plenty to be looking at there - cheers. Yeah... I was looking for road rather than track forks. It's for a Bob Jackson and would like minimal decals so will probably end up looking at the Minimal or Tusk?

Minimal were designed to look better with frame that have skinny tubing, Tusk could work.

Tifosi Pista (it's drilled)

No idea if it's any good but I love the look of this Van Nicholas fork

Tusk is a bit heavier and sturdier than the Minimal. Also not sure if the crown > trad headset transition would be quite as neat as the Minimal. But it would work, I think.

Another vote for the minimal. Fitted one to my Steamroller a few weeks ago. Pretty light and compliant yet feels more surefooted than the standard steel fork.
The width of the blades is around same size from the side as the headtube so looks really good. -

+1 for Tusk.

Jacob from TFG rides tusks aswell on his S1. He raves about them

I think minimal is top one.

Have you choose ? I am thinking switch my Columbus Colnago Steel fork for a Carbon Columbus, maybe the Tusk or Minimal..
-
• #22
Been riding a Columbus Tusk on my steel road frame for 2 years now. It's absolutely fine. Would recommend it. It's also cheaper with the alu steerer.

I quite like the all black, all carbon Wound Up with skinny steel tubes

I am thinking about buying 1 1/8" full carbon forks for my steel frame. Can you fit 28c in the Minimal? How about the Easton EC90 SL?
I like the Ritchey WCS, but a bit pricey -

Deda Black Rain is another (cheap) option. Can definitely fit 28mm tyres in them.
Can anyone recommend a decent, understated 1 1/8" carbon fork that would look OK on a steel frame? This is mostly to reduce weight, and I'm trying to avoid deep bladed road forks that just look fugly on a skinny frame. Ta.
