I would recommend changing the word 'fixie' in this post, people on this forum don't particularly like it and may give you grief. Just a heads up.

I'm fine with it. As you were.

Have a bump...
Do you know which model this is? I have a late 80s Lightning that I'm considering doing something similar to. Looks identical, apart from the colour...

Hi there, it is the 'Renown' model. Sadly can't find the time to sort this one out!

Hello JD1,
I'm interested and can collect this weekend if the bike is still available.
I'm still stuck in "the nursery" so cannot pm yet.
Thanks,

this is really nice! my first conversion was a dawes and i loved it until it was stolen. 175mm cranks are quite long though! beware of pedal strikes!

Sold, many thanks
Vintage Dawes racing bike. Frame in perfect working order. This was a project that I unfortunately haven't had the time to get round to.
Beautiful frame with some lovely detailing. 58cm top tube, 60cm seat tube, 175mm cranks. I'm a touch over 6ft1" and it fits fine.
Wonderful cinelli stem and lovely engraved 'made in England' handlebars. Bontrager bar tape. Dirty Harry brake lever and original front brake. Pretty battered Brooks saddle. Upgraded wheelset and Bontrager slick front tire.
The work that needs doing:
The chainring only has one bolt holding it on so these will need to be replaced - which will cost next to nothing. Also the rear wheel isn't a fixie or single speed wheel - it has the original cassette still on. Rear brake will need adding if required. There are areas of rust on the frame - nothing performance affecting but aesthetically could do with a clean/stripping depending on your needs.
I'm based in London near Clapham Common tube. Pick up only please.
Looking for £150 ono. Many thanks!
