I have some beater cinelli criteriums (handlebars) you can have for a fiver. 40cm i think.
and a fucked-up San Marco Rolls (white though): also a fiver.
Actually I have loads of stuff i need to get rid of, just give us a pm.Nice little project.

I have risers and some track drops and a carrera saddle I found in my brotherinlaws shed.
Once I get it moving I'll be on the ponce. I can't help thinking it would look good with black contacts

Subscribed - Look forward to seeing how this ends up.

Nice project. Looking forward to see how it turns out! Good to see old track frames going to be ridden.

I've also got some parts for real real cheap, give us a shout if you need anything.

Cheers chaps. No doubt it'll be chainline related requests.

Erm am I being special but the drive side of my cranks is really close to the chainstay, I havent got my chainring yet but would this imply the axle length is too short?
Pics later.

It is a triple road crank and its the granny ring bolts that protrude, still is the bb too short

All the Herne Hill bikes used to be Harry O, they sold them off a while a go so this could well be one
-
• #11
According to Rik Van Looy this is the case which is another reason I'd not want to lose the decals. History innit*
*makes me look I can tracks

If you want the whole story it is as follows...
Cliff Shrubb got the contract from the ILEA to build this batch of bikes for use at the Herne Hill Velodrome
The first couple of these frames were built from Reynolds 531 and were certainly built by Cliff's own hand....
This particular frame is made from Vitus tubing and it's not 100% guaranteed to have been actually brazed by Cliff...(There was a rumour floating about at the time that he may have subcontracted the work on some of them out to the lads at the Holdsworth shop (later known as Roy Thame) - the builder I heard about when I did my homework on this was Dave Clark, but "officially" it's a Cliff Shrubb).
The presence of Harry O (Rowland) decals is because Harry got the contract from the Southwark Council to rennovate the frames some time later - including the present Flamboyant paint job!

Seriously csb.

Man's got to know what he's riding
Some of these old-school frame builders are like the Greek oracle - you ask the right questions and you'll get more info than you could imagine

So dry fitting time
BIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIG pictures
IndraRipperSeatHeightâ„¢
Seat height isnt right yet. With drops
With risers
I'm undecided although I'm leaning towards the risers as it means a less ball ache to wrap
I've bunked off today looking after the wife today so hopefully will have my chainring sorted tomorrow night

if the crankset/bb issue doesn't resolve itself the lasco track crankset for ~30 new is perfectly serviceable for a beater. just need a cheapo bb to go with it.

• #18
how does it feel to know that every other person who ever rode that frame is a better cyclist than you?
no different to my missus.
I feel this should be shared too.

Too funny.
Ed suggested the lasco too. I don't want shiny new things as it will look wrong

^^ Brilliant - Loving this thread already
Risers looking good.
Hold your nerve on the triple crank arm, I'm sure it'll be fine. The black one I was using originally on this frame was a Shimano 400LX Triple and I didn't even bother chopping the granny-bosses off either
(I gave that Chainset & BB to my sister in law so I should be able to confirm the axle length - I'll get back to you with it) -

I should point out I knew CrBu before he joined this forum, that wasn't random internet bullying.
it was carefully targeted internet bullying.

Harry's pon road.
Running 44/16, not optimal for mad skidz...which suits me fine as I can't.
Chainline seem spot on.
I m not liking the track drops much but we'll see. I'd need better grips for the risers although might just nick the gel pads from my spesh ergos and wrap them in the cork, er, wrap.
Pics another time it was dark and I was cold.

Chainline looks ok to me

Good work
More pictures?
or Trigger's Broom.
This frame should need no introduction. It's got previous and a well ridden history to which you can read about in a more articulate fashion here.
...but what would I know my bike history is two ridgeback hybrids, a cycle2work Spesh oh and a createunifuck that actually disintegrated.
I bought this to be abused (lovingly) it will be locked up, it will be banged about, most importantly, it will be ridden.
This thread will probably be many posts about me begging for cheap bits or asking "what's this and where does it go?".
Enough preamble
I bought the frame with stem and post.
Bought a fixed/fixed rim
Freecycled a front rim
I'm going to use shitmano road cranks to get going but I'm waiting on a 44t chainring so I can get pon de road.
I do need to rifle through the wife's Avon collection for some clear nail polish to touch up the rust spots.
