The frame has been bought from here by the way for 70 quid or thereabouts. It's going to cost me just as much for the new paint.
I just spent about 10 times as much on a Sram groupset, and other componants.
I'm going for an orangy rust paint, the groupo's black/grey, brakes will be tecktro oryx, saddle is a Turbo in black, bars will be On-one Midge bars with a riser quill stem, wheels are mavic aksiums in silver and running gatorskins in 28c for now. Mudguards are Gilles Berthoux from SJS.

Should be back here next week with the paint job done hopefully.
    :)

I don't think it will have a rack, but it should have a large saddle bag and handlebar bag with possibly something in the middle, I like the idea of bike packing.

  • how's it going? :)

  • Well... :)
Not sure if the black riser stem suits it, but it's comfy and looks better than a standard stem showing lots of steerer tube.

  • Nice! Have you any more inbetween pics?? It's a massive transformation :)

  • any pictures of the lugs? more detail? pictures of the build? before or after?

    going to add racks? decals?

i feel it was all over too fast........no romance...... then you fell asleep straight after.

  • I've just lost interest in documenting the process.
I got stuck with a few things, the brakes for example, the front posts are so close together that I couldn't fit modern cantis, I had to go back to the old stuff which was a bit disapointing. The whole Idea was to make a tourer with modern parts that would still retain the essence of mid-century touring in terms of concept and aesthetics.
