Yeah, you mean the spring under the bolt behind the lever right?

Maybe? it's the bit that is kind of right against the bars, theres a toothed metal cog type affair that fits over a post, then a plastic toothed piece that has a hole for the cable to run through, then the spiral spring coil. I'm quite certain how it goes back but the problem is coiling it tightly enough so that it aligns as it should while maintaining sufficient tension. I figured needle-nose pliers, but so far I am too inept. The Stella didn't help surprisingly.

I assume it is the same as 10 speed, and yes you need a pair of thin pliers. It is a bit of a fiddle especially after some beers. Once you have done it once the next time (!) it will be a piece of piss. Fishing / medical forceps are better then needle nose pliers, as they click shut onto the spring and make it a huge amount easier. Check the youtube videos there is one that shows it. I will see if I can find it later.

Thanks, I've been maybe searching too specifically for the year and type and 11 speed. I'll have a crack Sunday morning sober and caffeine fuelled.

Got it, thanks for the input.
The rear derailleur cable got snagged when I was changing it so....I took the shifter apart and it has this stupid coil spring that is impossible to get back in...anyone have some experience with this?
