any idea where to find shorter frames ?
i'm from germany -
• #9
Maybe from http://www.shorter-rochford.co.uk/
Probably not from 1 year old sales threads. -

Or from vertically challenged cyclists selling a frame.....seriously....start a new thread....here and on Retrobike

- my english is too bad to understand "vertically challenged"
- i would live a sad life if i would be dumm enuffi to think all the bike nerds around would be so stupid to not think about contacting shorters directly and get a 80' / 90' lopro steelf frame send the next week and i'm the only person smart enuff to do this.
- the reason for that comment was the 3 comment rule before allowed to pm somebody that sold a shorter frame.
.. but thanks for the smart answers

While I think your daft using your 3 posts dredging up old threads when you could be contributing more positively to any other part of the forum my initial reply was supposed to be helpful. You only asked for shorter frames, not "80' / 90' lopro" - Shorter Rochford sell lots of their own brand frames and have 2 shops full of them.
marxist-vulcan also gave you some good advise. So you should contact Shorter Rochford, just incase, then start a new thread here and on Retrobike. Also, be polite.

Its a shame about Ray.

well if you explain it that way it doesn't sound that besserwisserisch anymore.
- as i said i just was too impatiencent s oi wrote not important stuff.
so thanks for your help.
... and the names not ray.
it's written ray
but it's pronounced " throatwobbler mangrove" ! - as i said i just was too impatiencent s oi wrote not important stuff.
This frame was very probably built by Barry Chick (who did Alf's frames) and has that classic Shorter geometry - it's just prefect!
Built in 1974 - frame number 2574
22" seat and top tubes and 37.5" wheelbase.
No tubing sticker but imagine 531 rather than columbus.
Prugnat lugs and Campag verticle dropouts (but not full of holes)
Look for pictures of Engers, Pete Wells et al - they are all on Shorters like this!
Brazings for rear mech only and top tube brake cable stops - again check out those pictures of Alf's bikes.
I had intended to build this up as a tribute to the period - but it is just not going to happen.
Oh, it needs paint!
TDC (I think) headset fitted.
I need £175 which may seem steep for a frame that needs paint - but (along with the Cronometros) Shorters like this of this period are just the definitive thing!
Oh, Skully gets first call cos he missed my Cronometro Ultralight!
All the best
Dusty
