The frame, the patina, the history: just perfect.
Someone should start a "track porn thread", post this and then close the thread.

Tis Lush...this reminds me of the paramount Legnano that popped up a couple of years ago...mofosex...just the right amount of love and hate...
It's so nice to see things unrestored, I'd rather see something that was battered with all that history still attached...bumpety ...its deserving of the love... -

Shame the tt is too long for me otherwise I'd be PMing you right now!
-

JB and Chris.......too many clearly!
its two step forward, one step backward to quote the mighty Max Romeo (One Step Forward - War ina Babylon) with the attempt to get it down to 2 bikes which would accord with my new years resolution.
what is the ideal number of bikes? is 3 too many?
-
• #12
Unless you run them all you should have no more than two built up(beater/sunday best/trick bike etc.)
I have frames lying around all over the places in boxes and such.
I could build up like 5 bikes if i really wanted to out of all the parts I have around. -
• #13
Depends on what kind of riding you do, surely?
I have the same new years resolution, but down to three:- Road bike for racing / training / fun
- Track bike for HH / looking at / occasional slaving.
- Touring bike for summer hols / camping trips...but built up as fixed beater / shopper the rest of the time.
I figured it was best to make the touring frame double as a beater, as it's good to have panniers for shopping, and when it's on holiday with me I can leave it outside at night without worrying too much.
It also forces me to strip it down and service it at least once a year!So that's three, with a box of touring parts under the bed.
Anyway, back to selling the frame....! Very nice it is too. - Road bike for racing / training / fun

I know what you mean - the tourer is the least fun to ride so making the daily hack is a little counterintuitive. That's why I still have four bikes...
doh!Have a free bump for a nice frame.

That is HOT, with those wheels aswell......
i need a rat though....this is too nice...
-
• #18
^Yep, same here... was tempted by this but wouldn't be on to leave it locked up outside all the time.
Such a nice frame, can't believe it hasn't gone.

This...../\/\/.....Totally should be the case...Anyone that paints things that have such a patina...and thats not to be all Brian Sewell about it...it's life experience, it's sweat and tears in paint wear...
Anyone that paints frames that have this aura of past greatness, as opposed to being ratty..(yes it's a slim line, tho I wouldn't ever repaint anything unless it was completely necessary!!!) Unfortunately I think are heathens, or devoid of any historical romance (what was that about brian sewell...;D)...
There is no good excuse.Oh....and If you have enough room, You can have as many bikes or frames as makes you happy...;D
I have in the last 12 months, got rid of everything...leaving myself with 2 racers, and 1 frame...Having had so, so many...and It hasn't been pleasant...It was a f*cking wrench...If you have the room...then buy and keep whatever is nice to ride (and generally if they are nice to ride... they are nice to look at...one Good thing about Quality frames)...You don't have to ride them all the time, just looking at an ace quality frame is healthy.
I had a super Ratty dawes galaxy nicked last year too, it looked shite tho rode so nicely, it pleased me daily to ride it.
It's a fair price for a good frame, ...It's a beauty.Bump!

its tempting but need the space so i can do some renovations (and build a geared bike) so alas it needs to go to greener pastures

Same.
sold sold
531 steel with nice lugs, campagnolo rear drilled dropouts and Zeus 2000 forks, 120 / 100 dropouts, english bb, im guessing its from the late 70s / early 80s, not drilled front or rear
straight and true no dings or dents, there is some minor surface rust / patina but this is light and pretty much all just on the paint, so no bubbling or deep rust, this is a true vintage track frame which has only been ridden on the track by the original owner apparently, riding for the Blackheath CC up north, the name of the rider and club is discretely decaled on the frame which gives it a nice bit of history
oh and comes with vintage Campagnolo (record?) headset, which is in good condition
i got this to ride at herne hill but have seen something else which has come up
it measures 54cm seat tube and 56cm top tube
