Join in the rim? Quite normal. Many rims are just pinned at the join, not welded.

yeah some rims have a gap like this surprisingly. If it's a relatively low end wheel I wouldn't expect much better but if you spent say £150+ for the pair I would expect a better finish than that even if it is pinned. A gap you could fit a piece of paper in at most is normal, any bigger and you might want to have a word with the place you got them about a replacement set.

when tensioned the spokes will pull the rim together too.
Order a new wheels set after installing rim take and last bit of the tyre I noticed this
Dog shit camera phone but you get the idea. Seems that this would give way after the first pot hole.
I'd like a knowledgable opinion.
If it's fubard, whats the easiest way to remove a rim tape loop from the wheel without fucking it.
