Just sayin'
For search function, you might want to change the thread title to KhVZ / ХВЗ

I hope you have the original head set as well.
Odd M26x1 threading. And don't overtighten the BB cups, if LH and RH threads with the same diameters have been cut across each other.

Meh, it will look crappy with a start shosse or sputnik fork as it will have a big clearance and it will overall look ugly. You can use any fork as long as you fing the right diameter headset cups in to the frame. The problem is that rekord has a pretty wide headtube (diameter), but the solution is simple: just wrap any cups (the wider the better) with ducktape and press them in. Surprisingly they hold really good. I did this on my old rekord thinking, that it will be just a temporary solution, but it wasn't loose ,so I just left it that way.and the person i sold my frame to is riding it without any problems with that headset.

Thanks a lot for the suggestions!
I believe the frame still has the original headset cups, not going to matter too much though as I don't have the original fork. What I do have is a pair of sputnik forks (with ~two days of rake) plus a selection of possible donors at the local bike co-op, might find something suitable from there (along with the neccessary headset parts).Today I got a Milremo rear fixed/free hub (for 20€, pretty cheap considering the nonexistant aftermarket here) and a saddle (in exchange for a bottle of beer :) )
It'll probably clash with the overall look of the final build (or look absurdly good) but I got it for next to nothing so it'll do. Also received the shipping confirmations for a few parts off the 'bay.
As for the wheels, I'm probably going to "borrow" the front wheel and a rear rim from one of the non-working town bikes from our co-op, will possibly build a wheelset with mid-high silver rims in the future. -

Got the frame, the condition isn't half as bad as I expected! Just some nicks in the paint and some of the paint having peeled off near the lugs. Most of the parts are on their way to me, should have the seatpost, crankset, rear cog and a stem with me by friday. Still need pedals, clips, a chain and a fork, then I'm set.
What I also found out was that all of my forks have steerers a few cm too short, meaning I'm probably going to have to get a "new" one. Any suggestions on 1" budget-friendly forks? Preferredly drilled.

Bought these forks off the bay yesterday:
In other news, everything else has arrived and has been assembled:
(excuse the potatocam, the weird angle and the curious feline)
The bars came off my current soviet winterbeater (Sputnik), don't look like much but they're the comfiest I've ever ridden.Spent a grand total of 11€ on the BB, it's made of plastic but runs like butter and should do for now. Also took my hubs in to be laced to rims, should have a working wheelset next week! Just missing the pedals, a headset and a decent (I have a few old ones laying around but seeing this build'll end up looking shiny, I'd rather not use those) front brake.

Everything except the headset finally arrived, managed to build it up and have used it daily for a week now. Rides smooth but needs a shorter BB as the chainline is a bit off. Also, decided to go for risers until I have money for decent bars and tape + managed to score a stripped Flite off here (thanks Plexarice).
Here's a shoddy pic:
Will have a friend take some photos of the nitty-gritty details soon.
Hello all.
I'm going to receive the frame for my first fixed build tomorrow, it's going to be a lower-end mass-produced track frame from soviet times - HVZ (Kharkov bicycle factory) Rekord:
The previous owner was kind enough to re-thread the bb shell to accept ISO english threading.
I've also gotten my grubby hands on a vintage Milremo track hub and placed orders on the odd 25.0mm seatpost, a stem and the rear cog. The frame, sadly, doesn't have the original forks which means I'm probably going to have to use old road bike forks off one of my other soviet builds. Parts I'm still looking for are a square taper crankset, a suiting saddle and a pair of quill pedals (if any of you has anything to offer, feel free to PM).
This is going to be a budget build so will probably end up a bit ratty, but I'm planning on restoring the paintjob (and decals) whenever I have the money from it.
I'll try and keep this thread updated with build pictures along the way. :)
