2013-02-16 I Bike London Love2Ride

Hi guys - this is a short social ride I have organised on behalf of IBikeLondon.com.

The pace and behaviour will be pretty relaxed with some interesting sights and quiet roads/traffic-free sections, see blurb and websites for more info:

I Bike London is back for 2013 and we would love for you to join our first ride of the year: the Love 2 Ride! It will be a free fun and sociable event, going through some of London’s main parks within the South West. To celebrate St Valentine’s day and the love of cycling, let’s all get together: we welcome families, couples and singles.

The ride will start at 11:00am Saturday 16th February where we’ll be leaving from the Achilles Statue at Hyde Park Corner (postcode W1K). After cycling through Hyde Park and Green Park, we will head to Elephant and Castles before going down to Brixton and Clapham. We will cycle up to Battersea Park, then through the Brompton Cemetery and finally end at the pub, the Builder’s Arms, in Kensington around 3.30pm (1 Kensington Court Place, W8 5BJ).

The pace will be relaxed and suitable for children, with breaks along the way. We will provide mechanical assistance if needed. The route covers 35 kilometres (22 miles) and is flat most of the way.

Few rules: Everyone can join. We do not provide the bikes. For your safety we recommend wearing a helmet, but you’re free not to. We are careful on the road, we pause at stop signs and lights so we don’t disturb other road users.

In the summer I will re-run this as a 'Ride South' which will have a more irreverent tone.
This time round it will be quite sedate.

I checked this route last weekend with the goofy bike and a child trailer, it's pretty good.

Yes do.
Weather permitting its going to be lovely, perfect for casual riders.

So far there is 78 confirmed with another 50 maybes - I don't think it is going to be a race.

If anyone with a cycle sound system wanted to come along and play some tunes we'd really appreciate it.

We could also pay you in beer at the end.

This is tomorrow if anyone is down for an easy cruise.

Yeah today was fun. Nice to meet anyone I said hello to. I had a white hat and a can of beer for most of the ride, so if we met, hello!

Oh no! so sad I missed this!!!!

80-100 people turned out.

As a mixed group with a social pace it was a bit stop and start.

Real good fun regardless, saw some hidden cool things in South London.

Thanks for the lead ma3k, nice route. South London tank was my highlight, lived near that for years and never knew about it.

fun ride, and well led ma3k! met some nice ppl, great to spin with youramericanlover and your girl.

My fav was the Windmill, I had no idea that was there!
Actually no, my fav was when we rode past an estate and had a 12 yr old yell at me "Wanna bang?"
Snap. Yeah, I still got it...

Don't think I met jackc but I did suffer beer envy.
