DiaCompe Reverse levers too fat for bars..

  • hi

I have just got some DiaCompe Reverse brake levers.
But they are too big to fit in the end of my bars.

is there a way to make them fit?
Surely these are meant to fit into std bars?

  • I've just looked at the DiaCompe site and they do 2 sizes:

the smaller size looks exactly the same, but with the sleeve taken off.
    Can anyone confirm this?

  • I am using the smaller size of these levers, and strangely when I switched from aluminium to steel bars the lever that fit into the former was too small for the latter (even though both bars had the same clamp size and I would have thought as a result the same internal diameter). Sorry that doesn't really answer your question, but all I can conclude from that and from I read elsewhere it seems that there can be small variations between the internal diameters of bars, even of the same style. But I am not an expert...

  • Don't think there is going to be anything you can do to make them fit. I guess you either need to return the levers or get new bars.

  • Surely these are meant to fit into std bars?

No such thing. There's three bar outer diameters, and on top of that the inner diameters vary by material thickness and construction, too. The only way to be sure is to measure it.

  • Yes - the smaller size DiaCompe bar end levers are exactly the same as the larger ones but with out the sleeve.
I took the sleeve off and it fits fine
    :o)

  • I made a shim out of a coke can to make my smaller lever fit larger bars ... Can I have the sleeve if you aren't planning on using it/haven't binned it?
