  • Nice bike - good luck with sale. Brakes are Athena 1991 or so.

  • Oh really, what separates them from chorus?

  • Is that c-c or top?

  • Seat tube is centre of bb to top

  • Mechs look like Athena too

  • i think your definitely correct about the front mech after checking velobase but i think the rear mech is a toss up between the two below. Pretty disappointed as i said before they were sold as Chorus. Ill amend the post but titles don't seem to change.

  • Nice bike, but the groupset is a Chorus/Athena mix and only the seatpost could be from 1996, the rest is C-Record era (1988-1994).

Monoplaner brakes have calipers that intersect each other, yours sit one on top of the other in the conventional manner: they're Athena D500 from 1993 or earlier. However, the brake pad holders and cable adjuster are 1st generation Chorus ('88-'91); your brakes should have "naked" wheel guides and a black rubber on the cable adjuster.

The cranks are 1st gen. Chorus: what is the date code on the reverse?

The Ergopower shifters are either 1993 Record, Chorus or Athena or 1994 Chorus: all outwardly identical.

The seatpost is Chorus (obviously) from either 1995 or 1996. Campagnolo added groupset names to components from 1995 and the C-Record era, aero seatpost continued until 1997.

The combination of cable adjuster, finish, closed upper jockey wheel cage and hidden lower pivot bolt identify the rear mech. as 1993 Athena.

The front mech is harder to pin down: it could be Chorus from '91 to '94 or '94 Athena. Does the mounting bolt have a hole through the centre? Is the pivot arm chamfered opposite the cable attachment bolt, as if someone has filed it off?

No idea about the pedals: soz!

  • Scilly Suffolk, thank you very much for the update, its all really good to know. I've adjusted the post and will change the other parts once i've confirmed otherwise. I'm out now so will check Eddy over tomorrow to clarify the other parts. Thanks again, feel slighty dubbed but thats my own problem as i probably should'nt have bought parts at face valve and checked them before hand.

  • The 2 whole bike pics seem to have different wheelsets, is it the first pic that are for sale?

  • Sorry I forgot to mention that. It's the wheels where the bike is NOT on the bike stand.

  • Lovely bike! I would be very surprised though if it was a 56 c-t to 56 if the bottom bracket shell is stamped 4X. I have had a lot of Merckx frames in hand and the last 7-Eleven 4X that I had was 54x55cm center to center. Could you please confirm? Thanks!

  • I measured today and measured from the centre of the bb to the top of the seat tube. Centre to centre could be 54 I guess?

  • Should you split or full buyer doesn't want them, I'd be in for the pedals.

  • Splitting would depend on interest really. I'll keep u in mind.

  • Interested in seatpost if you split

  • will be interested in the frame if you chose to split.

  • There seems a fair bit of interest in splitting eddy. If people show there interest on parts especially the wheel set and the frame like Vaeske has then ill get prices together this afternoon.

  • Price for shamals please

  • ....and saddle

  • I've just been contacted regarding the whole bike but if that falls through I would like £290 for the wheels and £50 for the saddle.

  • May be interested in saddle

  • Cool ill give u first dibs. If the whole bike sale falls through.

  • Ok, but I prob won't be offering the full 50! I've bought of u before and based in southsea, so if we get a deal I cud pay and collect today. Assuming u haven't sold whole bike yet

  • Yeh no probs. was it the laptop before?
