  • So Sir Hoy has just officially announced the Spring 2013 launch of his collaboration with Evans cycles. Anyone know any more about this at this stage? If he gets it right he might end up secret squirrelling for GB in the future. Bit dismayed that it has to happen through Evans and not be a new industry / startup type thing, but it didn't seem to do Boardman any harm when he climbed into bed with Halfrauds.

  • Circus Hoy?

  • Yarp.

Excited to announce the HOY brand & partnership with @evanscycles to develop a new bike range. Follow @HOYbikes for the latest news!

  • Via Evans, "A new range of bikes for everyone" been mentioned on Twitter... Hoybrid anyone?

Also track bikes at some point.

  • Don't want to jump the gun and get critical but these things can go so wrong if they try to spread their range too wide and just trade off the fame rather than developing a serious set of machines. What is the actual point of that pashley type Pendleton shopper thing exactly?

  • Report I saw on twitter said two road bikes, and 5 'city bikes', whatever a city bike is?

££££££££££££££££££££££ for all concerned thanks to a short-lived wave of Olympic-inspired bike purchases destined to rot slowly in sheds.

  • whatever a city bike is?

It's a shit steel conversion that doesn't fit, has no brakes and at least one Aerospoke

This is Hoy posing with one of his new bikes apparently. Who needs carbonz?

  • ^ LOLZ. Quality journalism right there.

  • I clicked the link, ended up watching a giant anaconda regurgitating a whole cow.
    FML.

  • What a sellout

A UKSI crabon tarck bike wit risers, Oury an Nobrak Shirley?

  • ....that bike looks over 40 years old ...

In fact i will hazard a guess and say it has something to do with the photo
    behind him..

The journalist who put that article together isn't very good.

  • Shock and awe, an already priveleged sportsman turns out to be a moneygrabbing conman, using their status to coin it in as heroic elitist promoter of New Bikes for Old, chanting 'oooh sport is for everyone, even people who are, like, fat, um provided they want to change and become WINNERS like me' selling 'sports style' bikes to people who would be a lot better off (and happier) if they had some mudguards, a dynamo, and some luggage on their bike, and used them for practical things like visiting friends, going shopping or sightseeing. But no. Let's make them feel inadequate. And sell them inappropriate 'high performance' inspired bikes.

Bleurgh. Proof that We Was Robbed By The Illympics.

  • And breathe.

  • Oooh wasn't he an inspiration, when he was riding that bike in that advert for Bran Flakes?

  • I was disappointed doping wasn't uncovered and sanctions imposed, just to see the headline, "Banned, a Hoy!".

  • Now we just have, 'brand a Hoy'.

I wouldn't go as far as "conman"..

Selling out? Maybe a little, but he deserves it after what he's done.

  • ^^^Yeah, after spending 25 years training to race, he should absolutely shut up about winning and racing. Clearly he doesn't know enough to have an informed opinion, and should instead help evans with the gaping hole in their range that is the hybrid....
Really? Get off your high horse. Or indeed Ho[y]bby horse
