Great minds, I just emailed you about this!
Once you know the date I’ll book it off work. And I’ll practice not riding like a dick in the meantime.

Sounds interesting. Not managed a weekday ride before. I'll keep an eye out for the date.

I'd like to do this but I ride like a fucking dick...

I'd be interested in this. but have work Monday - Wednesday. might be able to swap work days so will keep an eye out for confirmed date.

Sounds brilliant - subject to getting day off, am in ... assuming that once taking out your backwheel doesn't disqualify me from coming along.
-
• #7
No, it doesn't, and I think that may have been my fault. :)
Personally I have no reason to change the date. I'm happy to keep it on the Tuesday. I just wanted to cover my back in case it was some sort of public holiday I wasn't aware of...

I think it was 50/50 ...

Ho ho ho...
I vote keep the date, seeing as nobody's given a reason for it not to be the 18th.
Then us worker drones can ask the man for the time off.

In, alas my single speeds are both up on bricks at the moment so will be geared but promise to be well behaved. Also lacking in decent lights so may hurtle back to town before sundown.

I think we just about made it back in daylight last year. It is a hilly 50 miles but it shoule be possible to make it back by 3. Depends who turns up. I should add that if you haven't ridden a bike in months this will be very difficult.
-
• #18
Not you personally, of course.

Hint taken.... :(

I think you would be fine.
I haven't ridden my fixeibiek in months, actually. And been going s l o w on my other rides. I don't mind going slowly, as long as we get back before it gets dark.

Hmm, tandem?
I haven't ridden a bike properly in well over a month. I'll try to actually ride between now and the 18th.
-
• #22
I haven't ridden a bike without crashing or having a mechanical in well over a month.

I haven't crashed for more than 6 months and it's been just over a week since my last mechanical. I'd say I'm doing uncharacteristically well.

This is a very tentative entry as it's the day after office xmas party and I won't have ridden for a few weeks beforehand... Lets see.

After a reasonably 'successful' outing last year, I thought I'd whip out the Christmas Cracker again for some weekday slacker miles before heading home to eat and drink everything I can lay my hands on. I'm flexible with the date, but it will remain on a weekday.
The route will be 50 miles or so into Kent, roughly around Sevenoaks, and back into town, finishing at Crystal Palace. There is the possibility of a cider stop en-route. It is quite hilly. The roads will be filthy. North Pole lane and New Years lane are still on the route from last year but I've changed a fair bit otherwise. I'll be doing it fixed and it would be good if others did too, although as long as you don't ride like a dick, and your bike can go 50 miles, I don't really care what you ride.
Bring food/snacks, good lights, puncture repair supplies. Wrap up warm. Check your bike before you leave, etc.
We'll start at St. Mary Cray at 10:00 - I'll update other details closer to the time.
