Nice wheelbuild option.
What's your expected weight?
I'm planning similar - but road wheelset. -
• #3
I haven't a clue about the weight. I've weighed a few components so far but I always loose interest and start building so miss weighing things. I'll definitely throw it on the balance once it's built up and see where weight can be lost.

Cranks polished. I've yet to see them but very much looking forward to it.

I expect a gash sticker on this ;)
-
• #6
Why not run 47x18 on the road? Ratio of the chosen few...
-
• #7
^^ The Gash sticker will go in another frame. Might chuck one on the seat stay of this.
^ Because I've got a shiny new 44T.

44 x 17 is a tiny tiny gear! Sounds more like a trick setup. Why not run 44 x 15 on the street?
-
• #9
I rode 44x16 for a year. I quite enjoyed that. I the. Changed to 44x18 and felt that was a much nicer gear for my fast spinning legs. Somewhere in between (with many skid patches) is what i'd like for the future.

cranks are looking good man, is that an Ultrasonic bath they're bathing in? James' work?
-
• #11
Yeah James chucked them in the sonicator at work and then polished them up. Took the anodizing of with a satinizing mop and then used various polishing brushes and rouge to get them up to a lovely specular shine. He was paid in many pints of Williams Brothers Draught tonight.

Thought it looked like more than just Pledge. He's done a good job there, no White Russians in payment?
-
• #13
White russians have gone up from £2 to £2.50 so we don't really get them any more. It was Williams Draught at £2.80 from Inn Deep (used to be Big Blue at Kelvinbridge) tonight that made up most of the pints.

It's a TT bike, why not run 53/14?
-
• #17
It's first getting built up for use on the street and track. The TT setup will come later.

Lovely, looking good man.
This is more for my reference than anything else.
My brother gave me his Cervélo P2C frame in 2009 when the non-replaceable rear derailleur hanger snapped. The bike has stubby track ends and so I built it up as a fixed gear.
Initially I built it up with the parts of my previous fixed gear (below). I rode it like this for a while before selling off the components to fund a new road bike.
Now I'm itching to build it up as a fixed gear TT bike / track bike so I've started collecting parts.
First, I completed my Dura Ace cog collection with a 13T and 15T (I now have 13T, 14T, 15T, 16T). For street use I'll get an EAI Deluxe 17T. Also in the photo is the BB of choice, a Hatta R9400 (njs of course).
The next order of business. Cranks. Dura Ace 7600s. They were a bit ratty so off for a clean and polish (still in progress). I've got a new Dura Ace 7600 44T and a used 7600 47T. My street gear will be 44x17. Track/TT gear will probably be around 47x14 or 47x15 to start with.
